2022 was a great year for gaming for the PS5, and it will only get better from here on out. This year marks the first where most developers are switching to PS5-exclusive development. That means we’ll start seeing games explore the full potential of the power of next-generation consoles.

Of course, there are no guarantees that these games will perform as expected. Some will break to critical acclaim, while others will falter. Nevertheless, here are some games to look out for:

Forspoken (PS5 Timed Exclusive)

Forspoken was one of the first games previewed in the PS5’s early days, showcasing some of the potentials of the console. Two years later, we’re finally exploring this new world published by Square Enix. Everything about the game looks graphically intense, but we’ll have to wait and see how it performs. We control a character called Frey, who becomes part of Athia, where she discovers she possesses powerful magic.

Hogwarts Legacy (Has PS5 Exclusive Content)

I still feel a little on edge with Hogwarts Legacy. It has a lot of potential, but we’ve also experienced so many adaptations fall flat on its back that it’s a wait-and-see approach. Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG take on the game, allowing players to immerse themselves as Hogwarts student. The game will feature many iconic locations and activities people know from the Wizarding World franchise.

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

The sequel to Fallen Order was a welcome surprise during its announcement, and we’re glad to get this sooner than later. In this game, we take on the role of Cal Kestis, a Jedi who survives the infamous order 66. It presumably takes years after the original game’s events, where he now has a galactic reputation. Many gamers are ready for the next stage of their adventure.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

The trends of Resident Evil remakes continue with arguably the most beloved game in the series, Resident Evil 4. There are high expectations on this one though the footage hasn’t disappointed. It will be great to play this iconic game once more with new twists and additions. We hope this leans more into Resident Evil 2 improvements. Capcom hasn’t disappointed us so far.

Dead Island 2

The journey to Dead Island 2 has been a long and weird, but we’re glad it’s finally getting its zombie head above water. The game promises to be much more graphic and impactful than the original game. Since the zombie hype has faded in the gaming community, having a potentially good zombie game is a welcome sight. The ability to play co-op multiplayer is also a nice touch.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Rocksteady is finally back, this time with a Suicide Squad game. This game takes events after Batman: Arkham Knight and will feature the popular villain team-up. These criminals will have to stop Brainiac and Justice League members who are now under his control. Suicide Squad is the last performance of Kevin Conroy as Batman.

PS5 Honorable Mentions

Here are some other releases that will probably happen later in the year. In no particular order, they are:

  • Street Fighter 6
  • Diablo IV
  • Final Fantasy XVI
