There are a total of seven Paths depending on which certain characters are built. These Paths are:

Just like Paths, there are seven total Elements that decide what type of damage a character does in the game. These Elements are:

As of now, a total of eight characters have been revealed to be free for players to choose as starters. And all of these characters in their starred order are:
- Trailblazer (Five-star Adaptive character)
- Dan Heng (Four-star Hunt character dealing Wind Elemental)
- March 7th (Four-star Preservation character dealing Ice Elemental)
- Asta (Four-star Haarmony character dealing Fire Elemental)
- Qingque (Four-star Erudition character dealing Quantum Elemental)
- Natasha (Four-star Abundance character dealing Physical Elemental)
- Herta (Four-star Erudition character dealing Ice Elemental)
- Serval (Four-star Erudition character dealing Lightning Elemental)
Among all these eight characters that are free for starters, it all more or less covers up the Honkai: Star Rail Elements and Paths list. Even if it is not there, these should get you fine-tuned with the basic of the game and help you deal with all the starting mobs in the game.
There can be a lot of others characters in the five-star range that can easily work better than Trailblazer, it is still a free one. And something is better than nothing when you are starting out this HoYoverse space fantasy.
