One of the more recent bugs players encounter in Fortnite is the Failed to Download Asset Keychain. It’s a common problem for Xbox players, though it can happen on any platform. The issue occurs when the game’s server fails to get information about the player’s profile. It can be anything from skins, states, emotes, and other details.

Once you receive the error, the loading screen will seemingly freeze. Afterward, the game will crash, and you’ll have to restart. The problem may persist after starting the game again, so you’ll need to do a few things first.

Update the Game

You may need to update the game has problems like these are often on the server’s side. A patch can fix the keychain error, giving access to the game again. You may also want to check if servers are operational through the Epic Games website or Twitter account. If they aren’t, all you need to do is wait for them to get back before starting your game.

Try Switching Your Internet Connection

The game can sometimes have loading issues on a slow connection. It may also have a firewall preventing access. Restart your router and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise, you may want to check other networks like Wi-Fi spots to see if you’re able to play the game there.

Re-install the Game

You may need to uninstall the game first if the previous steps don’t work. Make sure to restart your device first before initiating a new install to remove any temporary files from your computer’s cache. Those files may be responsible for restricting access to the game. After you install, you should be able to play again.

If none of these work, you’ll have to wait for the next update for a fix. However, Epic Games has been speedily fixing these issues since it first appeared.
