The new season of Alola has launched, and it will be the debut of many Gen 7 Pokemon in Pokemon Go. The collection challenge is a way to get items, an exclusive event-related medal, and acquire the newer releases. Here’s what you need to do to complete the challenge and maximize your rewards.

Alola Research Challenge

Spin Pokestops during the event and get exclusive Field Research tasks. Each Pokestop will have a different one per day, so spin many to try and get the ones you want. Here are the three field research tasks and their rewards:

  1. Walk 1KM: Encounter a Yungoos or Pikipek
  2. Catch 7 Pokemon: 10 Pokeballs or Great balls
  3. Use 7 Berries to help catch Pokemon: 7 Ultra balls

Tropical Collection Challenge

To complete this challenge, you’ll need to catch several Pokemon. All of them appear in the wild save for one. Here is the list:

  • Litten
  • Pikipek (also appears in Field Research)
  • Popplio
  • Rowlet
  • Yungoos (also appears in Field Research)
  • Gumshoos (only through Yungoos evolution)

Gumshoos will be the most challenging of all as you need to get 50 candy to evolve a Yungoos. The best strategy is to use Pinap berries to double your candy for each catch. You can also opt to have a Yungoos buddy, which can get you some extra candy as you complete the challenge.

The collection event will run from March 1 to 9, meaning players only have a little over a week to complete it. Make sure to keep playing until you fulfill everything you need.
