Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have been brought back to life with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl this year. Similar to the earlier games, there are Technical Machines (TMs) and Hidden Machines (HMs) in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. One among them is the Rock Climb HM/TM.
As it obviously suggests, Rock Climb HM/TM will give Trainers the ability to scale and climb certain rocks. Players will be able to see that there are special patterns on the sides of some walls early on in the game, which are grooves that they can climb up. However, they will not be able to do it right away. The Rock Climb HM/TM will be needed for this action.
WHERE TO FIND
- The HM/TM can be easily missed in the game, so payers will have to be careful. It can be found on Route 217, on the way toward Lake Acuity and Snowpoint City.
- While going north in this Route, Trainers will need to stay on the left side of the path until they reach a small hut. A hiker will be present inside, who will tell the Trainer that he had lost his HM08 that contains Rock Climb.
- After this, the player should go outside his hut and look in the surrounding area near the hut. The HM08 can be found on the ground here, after which players should return to the man inside. He will give players the HM as well as the Icicle Plate item in gratitude.
IMPORTANT NOTE
- Many players encounter a bug/glitch where they cannot move forward even though they have already found the TM (some can even use Rock Climb).
- DO NOT use the TM before receiving the quest or talk to the man that lost it!
- To progress, you will have to go back to Spear Pillar (Mt. Coronet). The task will be restarted once you reach that location, and it will work once more. Players reported that you don’t have to trade or get the TM again, just simply reset the quest.
HOW TO USE
- Similar to other HM/TMs in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players will not have to teach the Rock Climb to one of their Pokemon. They can just go near one of the climbable walls and press the A button to climb up and down.
- However, it should be noted that to use Rock Climb, players will have to have defeated Candice at the Snowpoint City Gym. This Gym is present after Route 217. After players defeat Candice and get their Icicle Badge, they can use the Rock Climb.

I picked up this tm and do not have it anymore and now it’s not there. Now my game is telling me to go and find it, what should I do? I’m completely stuck.
Hi, Jordan. If you gave it to a pokemon to “learn”, then the game will not recognize that you have it anymore. Re-enter the Spear Pillar (Mt. Coronet) to reset the quest. At this point, some players reported that you don’t need to get the TM again. This seems to be an in-game bug. Let us know if this helps!
I obtained rock climb and I beat the seventh gym but my game is telling to get the hm rock climb. I have already have the hm rock climb but my game is still telling to obtain rock climb. Is there any around my problem

So we obtained the TM Rock climb and taught it to Infernape. It is telling me my goal is to obtain TM Rock Climb even though I have it. I can even climb rocks. I read your directions to go to the hiker and then go behind his hut to look for what he lost but nothing is there. Do I have to start the entire game over again? I cannot get passed this point!

So I got rock climb, I’ve used it before I realized I wasn’t supposed to, I already saved my game and I’m headed to mt. Coronet but I’m wondering if it’s going to work since I already saved the game?
Enter the cave to Mount Coronet from Route 207.
Surf through the water until you reach the other side.
Use Rock Climb to reach the stairs on the northeast.
Climb the stairs, and make your way to reach the exit on the northwest. Then, take the stairs on the right.
On the 3rd floor, take the stairs at the middle. Then, go southwest to find the exit.
Go northeast, and climb the wall using Rock Climb. You can avoid the wild area by using the stairs near the exit.
Walk to the left and go south. Move the boulder to pass through.
Travel west, and enter the mountain again using the entrance available at the north.
Climb the wall, and go east. Then, exit the mountain.
Go down the stairs, and head north. Then, climb the wall on the left.
Keep heading west until you reach the entrance to the mountain.The entrance is on the wall on the right.
Enter the mountain, and go east. Then, climb the stairs until you reach the top.
Take the stairs on the west. Then, go north and exit the mountain to reach the Spear Pillar.
This trick didn’t work. How else can I get it!?
I got rock climb, beat the gym, used rock climb, saved the game and it’s the next day, if I go to mt. Coronet will it work? I already saved the game so will it still reset?

So, I did pretty much everything on this list people told me to, and none worked. :/ I’ll just explain my whole situation. Rock Climb, retrieved. Used it on my Mew, Worked. Approaching Mount Coronet, Says I have to get Rock Climb, I had it and it’s on my Mew.
Brilliant Diamond, please explain your logic.
