TikTok: How to Undo Repost

Ever heard of the ‘undo repost’ option on TikTok? The ‘Repost’ feature on TikTok has become as popular as the micro-video sharing app itself. You can use the feature to share a video that another person uploaded. Even cooler, when you repost something, your friends can see it too because it appears on their For You Pages. The app doesn’t display it on your personal profile, though.

Even the best of us make mistakes occasionally, and you can unintentionally repost a video on TikTok. The likelihood of this occurring is very high because the repost button is so close to the other sharing menu options. Additionally, there may be situations when you want to undo a repost because you have changed your mind.

Let’s say you shared Kevin Gates’ NSFW childbirth video and you want to delete it before your followers see it. This is where the undo repost feature comes to your rescue.

Step-by-step guide to undo a repost on TikTok

The instructions below work for both iPhone and Android users to undo a repost on TikTok:

  1. Go to the individual video you wish to delete the repost from by opening the TikTok app on your device.
  2. Find and tap the arrow icon in the video’s bottom right corner. The Send to menu will appear as a result.
  3. Find the “Remove repost” option in the menu that presents. It will be in the top-left corner and will be highlighted in gold. To reverse the repost, select this option and tap to begin.
  4. Your device will display a pop-up asking for your approval to remove the repost. To confirm the activity, only adhere to the pop-up’s instructions.

The video will only appear in your followers’ natural feeds once you undo the repost, per TikTok’s algorithm guidelines. There are no limitations on how frequently you can repost and undo a TikTok video. You can alter your reposting preferences as often as you wish.

It’s simple to share videos with TikTok thanks to this user-friendly function. The app’s makers clearly seem to be aware that people can alter their opinions or make mistakes.

How does the Repost button work on TikTok?

TikTok now has a repost button that allows users to easily share their favorite videos with their followers, without having to upload or stitch them together.

Like retweets on Twitter, TikTok’s repost function works similarly. On TikTok, however, the difference is that when you repost a video, it doesn’t appear on your own profile. Instead, it will appear on the ‘For You’ page rather than the ‘Friends’ page for your followers.

For instance, if ‘Emily’, a user, reposts a trending TikTok video, her followers can find it on their ‘For You’ tab. Just above the username of the original creator, a note stating that “Emily reposted” will appear on the video.

A person can also add their own caption when they republish a video. Reposting is a great way to give credit and recognition to the TikTok user who originally made the video.
