NBA: Is Harden/Embiid Project the Next Kobe/Shaq Duo?

The James Harden and Joel Embiid project has been in perfect harmony since the two stars teamed up in Philly after the All-Star break.

In their first 5 games together, they have won 4 of them. Embiid is having a career year and is also being considered as one of the MVP favorites this season. He’s been phenomenal and has been averaging almost 30 points and 11 rebounds a night. Harden is also averaging 24 points, 12.5 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game in his first 4 games as a Sixer.

It is still very early to say that they’re the perfect basketball duo since they haven’t even played a whole season together yet.

But, lately, Harden and Embiid are gathering comparisons to the great duo of Kobe and Shaq during the early 2000s Lakers.

James Harden is a prolific scorer and emphatic playmaker, while Embiid is an extremely skilled and versatile big man who can score both inside and out. As far as the ratings are going, they look like a perfect match made in heaven. While they’re still far from the Kobe/Shaq success, the talent and skill of these the Beard and the Process are not very far from the Black Mamba and the Diesel.

When Shaq was asked what he thinks about the comparison of Harden/Embiid duo to the dynasty of Kobe/Shaq, Shaq ranted,

“No,” O’Neal said when asked if they are comparable. “No. Hell no. Not after one year. Me and Kobe had eight years of damage together. No, not even close. Stop it. Listen, no, hell no and f— no.”

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal were a force to be reckoned with during the early 2000s. They managed to bring home 3 NBA Championships to the Lakers during their fantastic run. Sadly, the team-up was ruined by ego and beef between two of the most talented stars during that time.

We are yet to see the magnitude of damage James Harden and JoJo can inflict in the playoffs. Harden is still 32 years old, while Embiid is still 27.

Will we see the duo in the NBA Finals this year? Will James Harden take a hold of his first ring? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. For more content, stay with us, here at Spiel Times.
