Guts and Glory – The 3D Happy Wheels: Hands-on Impressions

Guts and Glory

Acquiring 1st of 37784 games in IndieDB.com, Guts and Glory isn’t an indie anymore

Happy Wheels did cover a significant portion of my past gaming sessions. The community-made stuff easily managed to give me a daily dose of fun; and the constant rain of PewDiePie “Happy Wheels” sessions were just insane! I’m sure he published not less than 60 videos!
Guts and GloryAnd fortunately now, we have Guts and Glory, or you can call it Happy Wheels 3D. Guts and Glory is developed by Jedediah “HakJak” Steen, and is more fun than HW. The goal is super simple – just race to the finish line while dodging everything that tries to kill you.
Guts and GloryDodging all sorts of hazards, including saw blades, windmills, giant wrecking balls, medieval canons and crazy turrets and arrows; Well, you’ll find yourself laughing crazily each time, whenever your character gets chopped off by saw blades; or fighting with your completely physics-driven vehicle within the streets of Happy Valley. Yes, each vehicle is completely physics-driven with 100% ragdoll riders, real time dismemberment, and vehicle damage. This means that every turn, every crash, and every death is unique and hilarious.

Severed limbs spray gallons of unlimited blood all over the character & the environment as you struggle to hang on & reach the finish line. Your head gets cut off; and sometimes-well-most of the times your body gets divided into 8 parts! Vehicles get dented, smashed & lose parts. Wheels can be popped or just knocked off completely. Determined players on tough tracks will find themselves hobbling across the finish line dead, with missing limgs, or arms & legs, struck full of arrows, on a  smashed vehicle only one hit away from being incapacitated!

This project was a success on Kickstarter. It crossed the goal of $34,053 and 1, 125 backers have helped in making it possible. GnG has now been greenlit on Steam as well, annnd has acquired 1st position out of 37784 games in terms of popularity at IndieDB.com. You can also download a FREE pre-alpha build of the game (v0.3.3) from IndieDB.com. Fortunately, YouTube is filled with funny GnG videos so that, you can watch a game full of LOLs and WTFs and OMGs.

HakJak is also announcing a new character called ‘LawnChair Larry’ that files around sitting on his LawnChair. Also, if you want to try your luck you can sign up for the HakJak Newsletter and you might win a free copy of the game. Well, for me – I can’t wait to try the final release and get the taste of the Level Editor, and have fun of playing the community made stuff! (I’m ready to contribute as well) And MOAR PewDiePie GnG sessions!!!
