HyperX Alloy FPS Pro Keyboard Review: An Excellent Choice For Its Price

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro Keyboard Review - Spiel Times

The Intro Part

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro is the successor to the original Alloy FPS but with a tenkeyless and compact design. Although HyperX hasn’t traditionally been in the mechanical keyboard market, their debut products were absolutely gorgeous for the fingers.

Here’s my review of the HyperX Alloy FPS Pro Keyboard. Before we proceed, check out this beautiful satisfaction on Amazon.in, currently priced at RS. 7,499.

First Impressions, What’s Inside

I have been waiting for the review package to arrive quite impatiently. Two days back, I received the package, unpacked it, threw away my traditional Rs. 500 keyboard and restarted my typing experience with the Alloy FPS Pro.

Along with it, I also received the Pulsefire FPS mouse, review of which, will be live very soon. The package looks good with HyperX’s signature red and black combination design.

If we dive deep inside the box, we’ll find the keyboard accompanied by a quick user guide, card of gratitude and the 1.8m detachable braided cord.

The Alloy FPS Pro is exclusively crafted for players on the go, tournaments and LAN events. So the first thing I searched for was a travel pouch/cover. Sadly, unlike its bigger brother, the Alloy FPS Pro doesn’t come with one.

Design

“The Beast Itself”

The HyperX Alloy FPS Pro comes with a steel reinforced frameless design. Along with that, it comes with its red LED lighting to glow up your battle station during night outs. The keyboard also has an extended footing, a feature much appreciated for better ergonomics among gamers.

“Beast And His Back”

The 1.8m long braided micro cable terminating with a USB 2.0 connector connects the keyboard. HyperX went with a detachable cable to make it a prime choice for gamers on the go. With a detachable cable, the worry of damaging the cable flies away.

“Micro Cable Input”

The brightness of the lights can be manually adjusted using Fn + Arrow Up/Arrow Down keys. Also, there are six variants and five brightness levels to choose from.

The modes are – always on, breathing, wave, trigger, FPS, and explosion.

Build Quality

The keycaps are made of ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic, which is cheap and the commonest material used in keyboards.

“Solid Build Quality”

The Alloy FPS Pro has a tenkeyless compact design suitable for better stress-free arm movements. Although many might enjoy the compact design, I personally prefer keyboards with some extra space on all four quarters. But for true FPS geeks, this keyboard suits their requirement just as well.

Switches

“Cherry MX RED”

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro offers linear-styled Cherry MX Red key switches. These switches don’t have to reset past the bump offered for tactile feedback to register a repeat press. While double-tapping or triple-tapping a key, the keyboard will never disappoint you, allowing you to enjoy the edge in speed.

Testing It

The keyboard offers a polling rate of 1000Hz with 100% anti-ghosting and N-keymode. We used EK Switch Hitter to test if the keyboard registers multiple keys simultaneously. Result – Positive. Even if you press all the keys at once, the keyboard would register each and every one of them in less than 110ms.

The keyboard feels comfortable and quite soft for the fingers during lengthy game sessions. I tested it with Dota 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and couple other games. Not for once the keyboard felt offtrack and rough.

“Light It Up”

if you aren’t a mechanical keyboard user, it might take you some time to co-op up with Alloy FPS Pro’s flow. It might feel uneasy at times, but you’ll get used to the comfort. One wise advice my friend gave me before testing it, “Once a mechanical keyboard user, always a mechanical keyboard user.”

You can’t just go back to using normal keyboards after getting accustomed to a mechanical one. So, beware first-time buyers! Your comfort’s at stake!

Honest Verdict

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro Keyboard Review - Spiel Times

“Here We Are”

I had a fun time with the HyperX Alloy FPS Pro. With its clean and simple design, it is one of the best Tenkeyless mechanical keyboards in the market.

The keyboard offers you the choice to choose between 3 Cherry MX switches – RED, BLUE or BROWN based on your requirements.

The keyboard lacks macro keys and dedicated buttons for other functions. Other than that, HyperX Alloy FPS Pro is a great choice for the price.

“HyperX Alloy FPS Pro is an excellent choice for its price.”
