Nova, an official project is in development in the MCU studios. Which is pretty good news for Marvel fans. Like, finally, we have hope now to see Nova in the MCU. Word has it that Richard Ryder is going to make it to the MCU in phase 5 of the MCU timeline itself.
Well, his character was perfectly built to fit into the Avengers Infinity War movie. But then, apparently, things didn’t work out. We shall talk about this too and all the possible ways in which we get to see Richard Ryder as Nova.
Richard Ryder making it to the MCU was only a matter of time
Kevin Feige confirmed that a Nova movie would come along with the MCU universe a long time back. And he reconfirmed this so many times over the years that we were almost definite that Nova will make it to the MCU pretty damn soon. We just didn’t know when? But now there is a possibility that we are going to see him in phase 5 of the MCU.
- Now, things are looking pretty good for Nova cause there is a writer for this character in the MCU. Sabir Prasada, the writer of “Moon Knight” is going to write the character of Nova for the MCU.
- We can take a hint from this that the upcoming character of Nova in the MCU will be amazing. Because we saw “Moon Knight”, and its episodes were very well written. Now, what we don’t know is, will Nova appear in an MCU movie or a Disney Plus show.
Nova, a movie would be better or a series?
Well, there are pros and cons to both. If it comes out as a series in the Disney Plus show, then we would be able to dive very deep into Nova’s storyline. We will get to know the Nova character in the MCU. If it comes out as a series.
Because it takes time to form an opinion about a character, right? So, around nine episodes revolving around Nova’s character should do the justified trick of letting the MCU fans know. That is what Nova’s character is all about. But, eventually, movies have their perks too, right?
- They come with a bigger budget and can involve other characters as well. For example, if it is an MCU movie based on Nova. Then we can expect other superheroes to be a part of it.
- Guardians of the Galaxy for instance should run into Nova. And when it comes to a movie, some cinematic shots from the MCU are worth watching. So that is another pro in the movie segment.
Possible origin of Nova in the MCU
There are kind of two parts to the Nova story that we might get to see. Now, it is based on what we have seen so far. The first part is from Avengers Infinity War as I mentioned in the beginning.
After the Guardians of the Galaxy picked up Thor after Thanos decimated his ship. Thor told the Guardians of the Galaxy that Thanos decimated Zandar and got the “Power Stone” for himself. Now, this is where the Nova story is expected to begin in the MCU. We were introduced to the Nova Corps in the Guardians of the Galaxy.
- We are going to specifically talk about Richard Ryder’s Nova character here. In the comics, the last surviving member of the Nova Corp was Raman Day. Who we did meet in the Guardians of the Galaxy and was about to die. He gives his power to a teenager that he selects but doesn’t teach him much about the powers. That is as far as we can go for now talking about the possible origin of Nova.
- Going back to Avengers Infinity War, when Thanos decimated Zandar and took away the power stone. There might be the last survivor from that planet, be it Raman Day or someone else. Who will transfer the powers to Richard Ryder? That is basically how Nova, might be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Why this plot? Because it already makes perfect sense and the build-up of the storyline was such.
- Nova’s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is definite. The seeds have been already planted for his debut in the MCU. We may get to see Nova’s debut in a movie or a series based on him. But, there is a possibility that we may get to see him earlier in one of the movies from phase five of the MCU.
- We are very much excited to see how powerful Nova’s character is going to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We might get to see The Guardians of the Galaxy visiting Zandar for any last survivors and guess who they come across. Nova.
