Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a game-changer for the iconic character as well as the entire animation industry. So, it makes sense why the sequel Across the Spider-Verse is eagerly awaited.

To add to the already-buzzing hype, Sony Pictures Animation has offered us a new glimpse of Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen from the upcoming film, and it looks amazing!

  • The new still has Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen watching over an inverted city landscape, sitting upside down. This hints at the movie’s plot and of course some epic visual sequences that transcend multiple alternate universes.
  • A new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on December 13, 2022.

Across the Spider-Verse: What we know so far

  • Miles and Gwen’s return to the Spider-Verse will feature a variety of new, unexplored universes brought to life with path-breaking animation and art styles
  • The previous trailer for Across the Spider-Verse picks up where the last film ended as Gwen barges into Miles’ room taking him along on another multiversal adventure.

The success of Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse followed Miles Morales as a teenager from Brooklyn who discovers he has superpowers and is able to become a real-life Spider-Man.

  • With the help of fellow Spider-people from alternate universes, like Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Ham, Miles learns to use his newfound abilities to save the world from a powerful threat.

  • The film was a thrilling adventure full of action and humor, and it celebrated the many different stories of Spider-Man. It evolved into an essential movie for anyone who loves Spider-Man and characters from across the Spider-Verse.

The future of Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Verses

While Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man is on a sabbatical after No Way Home, Sony is capitalizing on the success of the Academy Award-winning Into the Spider-Verse.

  • However, we can still expect Across the Spider-Verse to feature new Spider-people from the Marvel canon.

  • Both Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen have been a huge hit among comic book fans and moviegoers alike. With more exciting characters like Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Punk coming up next, it’s hard to ground our expectations from going off the roof.
  • Watching a bunch of these characters come together for the first time is sure to be interesting. And, of course, the animation style is going to be a lot of fun, too.
