If you have ever proud yourself on being a fan of the K series then you probably don’t know who wrote the series. Spanning across multiple mediums of light novels, manga, and anime adaptations, the K (for Kings) was a fiction that was known for its ambiguous storytelling. Seven anonymous authors who call themselves GoRA were the ones who created K and are making a comeback in 2023. Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds was recently promoted on an official website together with a teaser promo.

Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds is an anime original, as it has no manga or light novel source to adapt to. Usually, studios adapt manga into anime. The general rule is to follow a light novel or manga. In some cases, an anime original ends up inspiring a manga.

When will Ayaka release?

The animation production will begin in 2023. As such one can expect a release in late 2023 or possibly early 2024.

GoRa’s previous works, for example, included their final story of K: The Return of Kings manga. The manga adapted the anime television series of the same name which was written by Hideyuki Furuhasi. Illustrations were done by Haruto Shiota.

GoRA is mysterious at best. It isn’t the first time in history that we have seen authors using penname or remaining anonymous. GoRA is a group of seven authors. Their official website introduces the seven members in colors ranging from red all the way to black. The members are  Kōhei Azano, Tatsuki Miyazawa, Yukako Kabei, Yashichiro Takahashi, Hideyuki Furuhashi, Suzu Suzuki, and Rei Rairaku.

We must put K into consideration to possibly estimate what Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds can bring

The complexity of dark tones presented in visibly munchable bits with lots of fanservice, music, and cool animation was one of K’s primary attractions. As such it is likely that Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds will shroud itself in visibly attractive animation and put some great background scores.

Given the title itself, we can draw that the show will notably try to present a tragic storyline, one full of loss, grief, and pain. This much we can take from the tones reflected in the series K. GoRA made K’s initial half rather slow-paced but it soon became enigmatically beautiful by the second half. The K anime was short, 13 episodes long.
