MHA Season 6: Will Deku ever recover from his ‘dark’ vigilantism side?

Ever since the Paranormal Liberation war, Deku’s psyche has witnessed his psychological change. And I mean this temperamentally as well as emotionally. The pinnacle of this entire season may just be the upcoming My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22.

In what ensued to be Deku’s greatest fight ever, the League of Villains pulled the biggest attack on the Hero frontiers. The one at the forefront of these damages was of course UA. This leads to a series of philosophical and moral questions. Primarily regarding the psychological state of where Deku in My Hero Academia Season 6 stands at.

The recent My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 21 witnessed Deku’s foretold (through the manga, of course) dark turn.

This dark turn is one detained from the usual light-hero stuff that he has been doing as of now. This is one magnificent aspect where My Hero Academia truly turns twists.

Deku’s usual light heroism

  • Think about it, Izuku Midoriya has been portrayed as this carrier of light innocence. A Naruto figure that has a righteous moral structure.
  • It supports his trajectory within the hero-villain dynamic. His desire to save everyone has been one of the promising themes of My Hero Academia ever since the series began.

The desire has been nothing short of an idealized heroism that’s been romanticized ever since the Superman era. A hero figure that smiles all the time and saves people even at the cost of himself. That has entirely been what Deku’s heroism (inspired by All Might) has been about.

  1. Now, the My Hero Academia season 6 episode 22 preview has recently been released, causing a stir on the internet with the emergence of Deku’s vigilante form.
    1. However, the preview concludes with the future Number 1 hero refraining from uttering his signature catchphrase -Plus Ultra.
  2. With every episode of the sixth season of My Hero Academia, Izuku Midoriya’s mental state has been deteriorating.  The latest promotional material for the upcoming episode is a testament to the amount of psychological trauma he has endured since his encounter with Tomura Shigaraki in the Paranormal Liberation Front War arc.

Deku is experiencing severe mental anguish in the latest installments of My Hero Academia, as he comes to terms with All For One’s willingness to go to extreme lengths to obtain One For All’s abilities.

As he takes on the mantle of a solitary dark hero, this knowledge will continue to burden him. The sneak peeks for the next episode hints at Deku’s further descent into darkness. The same can be witnessed in the episode preview for My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 22. Check it down below.

All Might, Plus Altra and All for One

  • The latter half of the season has witnessed significant upheaval in Japan, as All For One and the villains have wrought havoc, and Deku has placed an enormous burden on himself, believing that he is solely responsible for the aftermath.
  • Plus Ultra and Beyond have been the pinnacle of All Might’s idealistic heroism. Which has been taken by Deku. This is a phrase that typically instills hope in civilians and establishes the tone for an arc that progressively grows darker.

The recent episodes of My Hero Academia have inflicted significant psychological trauma on Deku as he begins to understand the extreme measures All For One is willing to take to acquire One For All’s powers.

As he increasingly takes on the role of a lone dark hero, this realization will continue to weigh heavily on him. The teaser for the upcoming episode suggests that Deku’s downward spiral will continue.
