My Hero Academia Chapter 390 is scheduled to be released on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Readers can access the chapter on the series’ official Viz and Manga Plus websites. The short eleven-page Chapter 389 picked up where Chapter 388 had left off, following Rei, Natsuo, and Fuyumi’s attempts to stop Toya from burning himself and Endeavor up.

The Pro hero decided to sacrifice himself and die with his son to prevent the explosion caused by Toya’s flames from harming civilians or heroes around. But the entire Todoroki family followed them, prompting a barely lucid Toya from realizing that his family was finally seeing him, and wondering why this did not happen sooner. The chapter also included a glimpse of Ochaco Uraraka and Himiko Toga locked in combat.

My Hero Academia Chapter 390 predictions

Ochaco and Toga clash in Chapter 389 (Image via Kohei Horikoshi/Shueisha)

My Hero Academia Chapter 390 will likely show Iida and Shoto arriving in Gunga in the nick of time to save the Todoroki family from being consumed by Toya’s flames. It is unlikely that the eldest Todoroki will survive this battle, since Chapter 389 showed his visage fracturing as he experienced the salvation of finally having his family’s eyes on him after so many years.

My Hero Academia Chapter 390 will possibly also focus on the fight between Ochaco Uraraka and Himiko Toga, a confrontation that has been foreshadowed from the Forest Training Camp arc of the manga. The upcoming chapter will probably oscillate between the situation in Gunga, and what will likely be Ochaco’s final clash against Toga.

The Gravity hero’s words might finally reach the transforming villain, whose own internal struggle was made evident following Twice’s death in Season 6 of the anime. My Hero Academia Chapter 390 might also provide fans with an update on All Might as he tries to face off against All For One, despite no longer having OFA or a Quirk of his own.

Chapter 389 recap

  • My Hero Academia Chapter 389 began with the police officers and analysts at the headquarters panicking as they realized that an explosion is inevitable, despite the rise in temperature at the epicenter slowing down.
  • At the location of the explosion, Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo tried to shield themselves with a wall of ice, while Endeavor continued to hold on to a burning Toya. The eldest Todoroki seemed to achieve a moment of clarity and realized that his wish to have his family looking at him had finally come true.

The next panel showed his face splitting as he wondered why something so simple had been so difficult to achieve, further heightening the tragic aspect of Toya’s character arc.

My Hero Academia Chapter 389 then showed the Pro hero Tiger ordering everyone to evacuate from the blast zone, while Ochaco stood poised against Toga who had transformed into Twice. Chapter 389 then showed the civilians fleeing while the children continued to watch the fight on their tablets and root for the heroes.

Those who watched Endeavor burning up began praying, hoping that the hero would survive and win this fight. My Hero Academia Chapter 389 ended with Shoto and Iida rushing towards Gunga using the latter’s Engine Quirk while the youngest Todoroki sibling created a streamlined body for them out of ice.

Chapter 389 ended with Shoto activating Phospher as the ice plane-like structure and Shoto’s arm braces began breaking off, possibly due to the heat and the air pressure.
