Often compared to Black Clover, Mashle has been nothing short of a spectacle for many Manga fans. And at this point, it feels viable to add that many such fans are quite often (than not) elated to see their favorite manga series getting an Anime adaptation. Mashle Magic and Muscles is similarly set for an Anime release right this year in 2023.
Back in 2022, Aniplex declared that they will be adapting Hajime Koumoto’s Mashle (Mashle: Magic & Muscles) into a television anime. The company unveiled a teaser visual (pictured) and an announcement video on its official website. The anime is set to debut in 2023.
What is Mashle Magic and Muscles Anime going to be about?
- In a world dominated by magic, Mash Burnedead, a young and powerless individual, is seen as a threat to the gene pool and is targeted for elimination. He lives covertly in the forest, dedicating himself to daily body training to develop muscles that can compete with magic itself.
- But when his true identity is revealed and his peaceful life is endangered, Mash embarks on a journey to become a Divine Visionary, a position so influential that society cannot ignore him.

- To preserve his tranquil existence, the magicless Mash enrolls at the renowned Easton Magic Academy, where he competes against the offspring of the most influential and elite individuals in the realm.
This is one of the points where fans hold Mashle similar to Black Clover. Primarily because of how both the protagonist begins without any inborn talent. (Or so they think).
- Apparently devoid of the one talent necessary to survive at Easton, magic, Mash appears to be at a significant disadvantage compared to his classmates. To achieve his objective, Mash must use his fists alone to overcome every challenge, defeating magic with his muscles, all for the coveted title of Divine Visionary.
When were the Mashle Magic and Mushroom Anime announcements made?
The announcements for the Mashle Magic and Mushroom Anime were actually declared during the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event. The same event that gave us Nier Automata Ver 1.1a Anime.
When will Mashle release?
A-1 Pictures have been working on this project for a while. The release date so far seems to be sometime in April. Although the exact date is not yet confirmable.
Where to watch?
Mashle will release on Crunchyroll whenever it premieres in April. The anime will likely have a simulcast as its Japanese release.
Cast, staff, and more
The announcement then released main cast and staff for the upcoming Mashle anime were announced.
The anime is set to release in 2023 and will feature Chiaki Kobayashi (known for his role in Tomodachi Game) as the voice actor for the main character, Mash Burnedead.
- The staff for the anime includes Tomoya Tanaka (known for Engage Kiss) as director.
- Yousuke Kuroda (known for Boku no Hero Academia) as the series composer.
- Hisashi Toujima (known for Sword Art Online: Progressive Movie prop design) as the character designer.
- And Masaru Yokoyama (known for Ao Ashi) as the composer of the music. A-1 Pictures will be producing the anime.
Koumoto began serializing the action comedy manga in Weekly Shounen Jump magazine in January 2020. Shueisha released the 12th volume on July 4, and the compiled volumes of Mashle have sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
VIZ Media obtained the license for the manga in English in October 2020. The sixth volume was published on May 17, while the seventh volume is scheduled to be released on July 19.
Mashle is also available on the MANGA Plus website via simulpublication (published simultaneously as its native Japanese release offline)
