The famous goatherd from Game of Thrones has left the world. Darren Kent who won the hearts of many with his role in the world’s one of the most popular fantasy series died on August 11, 2023. He was only 36 years old and his untimely death has left many in sorrow.

Darren Kent rose to fame with Game of Thrones
The Essex native and Italia Conti graduate has many notable works in his credits including Mirrors, My Feral Heart, The Little Stranger, Marshal’s Law, Les Miserables, and Shameless, among others. However, to date, his most famous character remains in the fantasy series, Game of Thrones.
- Kent’s first appearance in the series was in a poignant scene that required plenty of emotions. He was a goatherd and his daughter, Zalla was charred by Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon. Kent appears in front of Targaryen carrying his daughter.
- The 36-year-old British actor went on to win the hearts of the audience and critics likewise. He won the ‘Best Actor’ award at Van D’Or Awards in 2012. He also won the ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Short Film’ awards for his directorial project, You Know Me, at the London International Monthly Film Festival in 2021.
- His last work was a comic fantasy heist film titled Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. It was released in March 2023, and garnered a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes tomatometer and a 93% audience score.
Darren Kent suffered from some illnesses
The Sun mentions that Darren Kent suffered from a couple of diseases over the years. He contracted osteoporosis, which affects bones making them weak and brittle. A person’s age, family history, and body frame size are some of the factors involved in it and it can increase the possibility of death.
- Kent also suffered from arthritis, which causes swelling and tenderness in joints. Additionally, he suffered from a rare skin disorder similar to his character in Sunny Boy as per the reports of People. Although the cause of his death is unknown, many believe that his health issues played a role in the tragic event.

Fans and colleagues shared tributes in memory of Darren Kent on social media. Kent was a patron for Equal People Performing Arts, which promotes inclusion in the performing arts. His fellow patron Lee Mead shared a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, remembering the actor as a special and positive person.
