How to display in-game FPS in Diablo 4

Enable FPS counter in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Early Access Beta has been a massive success for Blizzard as fans have thoroughly enjoyed their infamous title. The Open Beta is coming up on March 24, and many gamers will be able to get a first-hand experience. While some have praised the gameplay element others have complained about server issues, frame drops, bugs, crashes, and more.

The desire for an in-game FPS tracker remains, which will help monitor the issues that arose during their game time. As Diablo 4 does not come with a native FPS counter, players will have to resort to their graphics card software. The performance problems in the game have troubled them, given that they had limited time to try out the Beta.

An FPS monitor won’t solve the issue but it can consolidate the problem. Until the developers come up with their native tracker, players will have to use their GPU’s available tools. They should ensure that their graphics drivers are updated before the Open Beta releases. The following guide will go over the steps to enable the FPS counter from the respective graphics card software.

Ways to monitor frame rates in Diablo 4 using an in-game FPS overlay

Generally, your graphics card software provides tools to enable a framerate overlay on top of your game window. Assuming that you own a GPU from either AMD or Nvidia, here’s how you can enable the mentioned settings.

Nvidia Geforce Experience Software

If you have an Nvidia GPU, follow the steps given below:

  1. The first thing you have to do is to download and install the Geforce Experience software. You can find the latest version on the official website. Browse through the option to find your graphics card model and download the newest version of it.
  2. Now you should have the software on your desktop, click on it. Once it opens, navigate your way to Settings and then to the General tab. Scroll down on the page to find the In game overlay option, and turn it on.
  3. Under the same section, there will be another Settings button. Clicking on it will pop up an overlay where you need to open up the HUD layout.
  4. Under the Performance tab, you will be able to select the corner of the screen where you want to enable the FPS counter for any game. The overlay will work on Diablo 4 so make sure to use it to track your framerates.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition

If you are an AMD user, follow the steps given below:

  1. Download the latest version of the Adrenalin software from the official website.
  2. Once it is installed, open the software on your computer and head over to the Performance tab.
  3. On the right-hand side, you should turn on the FPS setting under the Tracking option.
  4. Now, head over to the Overlay under the same section and turn on the Show Metrics Overlay option. This will open up an FPS counter at the corner of your screen that will allow you to detect framerates while playing Diablo 4.

By now you should have the FPS overlay handy for any game of your choice. Remember to check that you meet the minimum requirements to enjoy it without any performance issues.
