The year ahead for Pedro Pascal: What’s next for TV’s biggest star after The Last of Us and The Mandalorian?

After the roaring success of HBO’s The Last of Us and the never-ending buzz around the ongoing season of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal is on top of the world. The Chilean-American star is on a roll after stealing the show at Oscars 2023, and the internet’s favorite “daddy” shows no signs of stopping. The Last of Us just premiered its season finale and once The Mandalorian’s third season is finished, what’s next for Pedro Pascal this year?

While his television filmography is unparalleled, Pedro Pascal hasn’t had the same luck when it comes to movies. With only a handful of notable releases like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in recent years, the actor would most likely experiment with different roles and genres for the longer format.

Furthermore, it’s hard to imagine that he would be able to devote any more time to television given his presence in other ongoing projects.

Pedro Pascal’s confirmed upcoming film projects

Even if we’re just three months into 2023, no other actor has been as busy as Pedro Pascal this year. The heartthrob will only hope to continue this streak by taking up more projects to add to his impressive filmography.

The 47-year-old actor’s next major release is set for 2023’s Cannes Film Festival. He will star alongside Ethan Hawke in veteran director Pedro Almodovar’s short film, Strange Way of Life. The film is a Western about a sheriff and his male friend and involves queer themes.

Following this, Pedro Pascal will star in a film titled Freaky Tales, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the duo best known for Captain Marvel. The film will depict four interconnected stories taking place at real locations and during real historical events in 1987 Oakland, California.

The Game of Thrones actor will also be sharing the screen with Willem Dafoe and Morena Baccarin in Tropico. He will also star in The Uninvited, a comedy about a stranger crashing a party.

What’s next for Pedro Pascal in his home turf of television?

The undisputed king of TV series is all set to take up the lead role on My Dentist’s Murder Trial, alongside David Harbour, and will also serve as an executive producer. The show revolves around the theme of lethal sedation.

Apart from this, Pedro Pascal seems to have kept his TV slate empty. HBO is reveling in the success of The Last of Us, which has received an overwhelming response for a video game adaptation. A second season is practically inevitable and the actor would reprise his role as Joel Miller in stellar fashion.

Despite occasional mixed responses to The Mandalorian on Disney+, Pedro Pascal has had constant success in keeping the audience glued to the show. His presence in upcoming seasons as well as other Star Wars spin-offs is crucial.

Apart from these confirmed projects, Pedro Pascal is also rumored to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there has been no official update on the same.
