Filipino content creator Bogart TV is under fire for mistakingly taking a Jollibee claim buzzer home. The buzzer is necessary for the fast food chain restaurant to alert the customers once their meal is prepared. However, the social media content creator accidentally brought the buzzer home and became the center of backlash. Read more to find out why.
Bogart TV takes Jollibee’s claim buzzer home
On Wednesday, September 13, the content creator named Bogart TV posted a series of pictures on his Facebook page. The images captured the front and back of the number 20 Jollibee claim buzzer. While, he captioned the image saying, “Guys may nauwi ako, kayo ba ano pinaka malupit nyong nauwi?” [Guys, I took home something; what’s the ‘most savage’ thing you ever brought home?]
- This accident soon went viral across the platform as some netizens laughed while others shared their disappointment about the content creator’s mishap. Under the same now-deleted post, a netizen named Renerose Reyes shared that the buzzer is from the Jollibee restaurant where she works.
- Reyes also shared that her co-worker, who was in charge of that order, received a fine of PHP 500 for losing the store’s property. The crew decided to split the penalty to reimburse the store.
- “Sir sa store po namin yan. Charge po sa ka crew namin 500 po yan,” [Sir, that’s our store’s. It was charged to our crew member for 500 pesos], the Jollibee employee said in the comments section of Bogart TV’s post. “Naawa din po kami sa ka crew namin kaya maghahati hati kami para po mabayaran at mapalitan.” [We pitied our crew member that’s why we split the fine, so we can replace it.]
- Following this, another user, Paw Opiña, shared a screenshot of Reyes’ Facebook image clicked with the content creator at the Jollibee restaurant with the caption praising Bogart TV as an approachable personality.
Bogart TV promises to return the buzzer to Jollibee restaurant
After netizens found out about the fine for the employees due to the mishap, they expressed their anger towards Bogart TV for carelessly bringing the buzzer home. In light of the rising rage against him, the content creator went live with fellow creator Nico David to announce that he would return the buzzer to the Jollibee store.
- Although this live is no longer available on the Filipino content creator’s page, one netizen named JZK uploaded the clip on his Facebook page. In the clip, the netizen criticized Bogart TV for not apologizing to the crew and making excuses.
Why are netizens angry?
The netizens under the post and the video reprimanded the content creator for making such a mistake and then showing it on Facebook. Many netizens also expressed their wishes to mass report Bogart TV’s Facebook page.
- One of the main reasons for this backlash is the disappointment that Bogart TV didn’t apologize despite finding out that the crew of Jollibee had to suffer from his mistake. On the other hand, people resurrected the event when Bogart TV proudly showed how he ate a complete meal in Taiwan from tasting free samples in the market.
- Some of the netizens alleged that the content creator isn’t empathetic or considerate towards the food business staff, and hence, he keeps on placing them in trouble just to receive some views.
Bogart TV returns the buzzer
After receiving the backlash and losing his Facebook account due to mass reporting by the netizens, Bogart TV returned the buzzer number 20 to the Jollibee outlet. He posted the event on Kidd Millari’s FB page and the images of him returning the buzzer to a crew member, giving a thumbs up to the camera.
- The content creator also apologized to the employees and netizens for causing so much trouble and clarified that he didn’t intend to take the buzzer home. It was purely accidental as he was in a hurry and forgot the buzzer in his pocket.
- Moreover, he clarified that he posted about the mistake on Facebook to get the attention of the Jollibee crew so they would not worry about the missing buzzer. Adding it was to alert them that he would return the buzzer.
