In the world of modern technology, mundane tasks like sleeping can be tracked using apps for Android and iOS devices. Recently, an upcoming app called Pokemon Sleep has been making waves online as it is a way to track the quality and duration of your sleep. Although it hasn’t been released yet, Pokemon Sleep is hosting a beta test for the app, and here’s how you can join, along with the download link and a brief overview of what the app is all about.
What is Pokemon Sleep?
In simple terms, Pokemon Sleep is an app that turns sleeping into a game. However, you must first have the Pokemon GO Plus + device to make it work. If you have this device, it can use the accelerometer and record your sleep data every night. According to the official website, Pokemon Sleep will help make your sleeping habits better. When this happens, you wake up energized and excited to start a new day.
How does it work?
Pokemon Sleep is best played with the Pokemon GO Plus + device. It sends your sleep data to your smartphone via Bluetooth. The longer you sleep, the higher the score you will get once you wake up in the morning. All you have to do is place the Pokemon GO Plus + device near your pillow and go to bed.
- Since the app is a game, you will find yourself on a small island working together with a professor.
- Professor Neroli is there to study the sleep styles of various Pokemon, and the very sleepy and fluffy Snorlax is also the main Pokemon in the game!
When you go to sleep, the app determines your sleep style once you wake up. Pokemon Sleep has three sleep styles: dozing, snoozing, or slumbering.
- Upon checking the app when you wake up, you will find Pokemon that sleep in similar ways. They will be gathered around Snorlax, and you can encounter all kinds of Pokemon with every sleep.
- The Pokemon you encounter will be recorded in your sleep style dex.
You can still use your smartphone and place it near your pillow if you don’t have a Pokemon GO Plus + device. However, the special device will make the data more accurate and seamless.
How to join Beta Test for Pokemon Sleep
The app is currently in its open beta testing period. Before we get into it further, the beta test is only available for Pokemon Sleep users on Android devices. If you’re using an iOS device, you’ll have to wait until the game is released later this month.
The Beta Testing Period began on July 9, 2023. It will run until July 13, 2023, at 12AM UTC. Aside from being limited to Android devices, the beta version of Pokemon Sleep is only available for those who live in the following locations:
- Argentina
- Australia
- Canada
- New Zealand

If you have an Android device and reside in the four locations mentioned above, all you have to do is follow the steps below:
- With your Android device, go to this LINK
- Click on the button that says “Become a Tester”
- After that, you have now registered yourself in the testing program
- Look for Pokemon Sleep on the Google Play Store
- The app will receive an update that will allow you to test the program
For now, you can rely on your smartphone and test out the capabilities of the app. The Pokemon GO Plus + device releases on July 14, 2023, and the full sleep-tracking app will launch worldwide this Summer 2023.
