Getting Too Real: The Simpsons predicts the hottest events of 2024

The Simpsons predictions for 2024

The Simpsons have been running for 35 years now and it’s still going steady. However, the long-running show’s appeal to the public isn’t why they’re famous. It’s because the show has predicted tons of current events that changed the world. There have been some episodes that, when you look back at it, suggested something very similar to what’s actually happening in the present. Well, the showrunners and writers of The Simpsons still did not miss as they may have seen the future once again. Here’s what the cartoon has predicted – somehow – so far in 2024.

The terrifying Super Solar Storm

In 2013, The Simpsons featured an episode where Springfield suffered a power blackout, causing massive distress among the citizens. It was an episode called “Homer Goes to Prep School” (Season 24 Episode 9). After Homer Simpson neglected his job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant while studying to become a survivalist, an unexpected accident happened at the plantation that caused a surge of electromagnetic pulses. As a result, the town experienced an all-out electric power blackout.

The showrunners might have looked 10 years into the future as the EMP burst that Springfield suffered could be similar to the reported Super Solar Storm. According to reports, the Sun is about to emit huge bursts of energy that could potentially wipe out the internet for weeks, even months, years, or even worse, forever. There was a recorded solar storm in 1872, but scientists suggest that the upcoming phenomena could be bigger than what happened more than 150 years ago. It’s terrifying, very terrifying.

In addition, Homer builds a bunker underground to protect his family and to survive. Does it sound familiar? Does Mark Zuckerberg’s top-secret post-apocalyptic bunker ring a bell?

Aliens in Miami?

On New Year’s Eve, the Miami Police Department was alerted that there was a 10-foot creature lurking inside Miami’s Bayside Marketplace. There was a clip where numerous police vehicles surrounded the mall and there were even witnesses who claimed that an “alien” was present in the area.

However, the police quickly debunked the rumors that there was an extra-terrestrial creature on the scene. Instead, what they found were teenagers who were spewing fireworks and getting in on a scuffle. The cops made multiple arrests, including an active shooter.

Netizens quickly connected all of these to an episode of The Simpsons where an alien species invaded Springfield and proceeded to abduct innocent citizens. Coincidental? Fans of the show don’t think so.

Stephen Hawking on the Epstein Island

After Stephen Hawking was unexpectedly mentioned in a Jeffrey Epstein document, the late physicist became the center of controversy. Surely enough, this has caused turmoil on the internet. However, those who have been avid fans of The Simpsons were quick to point out one remarkable episode.

In 1990, Stephen Hawking’s character appeared in the show and had a scene where he innovated his wheelchair to be able to fly and saved Lisa from an enraged community. But, just to be clear, this episode has nothing to do with Hawking’s alleged visit to the Epstein island.
