The One Piece Anime has yet to catch up to the glory of the Manga. Especially the impending battle between a newly evolved Luffy (if you know, you know) and erratic Kaidou seems to hold the fans at bay. With the last episodes having once again reached the peak of Animation quality for many anime fans, when will One Piece Episode 1054 release? And when will this short Anime hiatus end?
About the One Piece Anime Hiatus
Now for the uninitiated, One Piece Anime has been on a hiatus. And due to this two-week hiatus, the release of Episode 1054 of One Piece has been postponed to either Saturday, March 18th, or Sunday, March 19th, depending on your location.
Where to watch the upcoming One Piece 1054 release
- Now for those wondering where they can watch the upcoming One Piece Episode 1054 (whenever it releases, that is) – Japanese viewers can watch it on FujiTV, while international fans can tune in on Crunchyroll (As always).
The episode will be released simultaneously worldwide, with different timing for various locations. We have compiled the timing of all major timezones upon which the Anime will be released relatively. Check it out down below.
On the reason for the hiatus of the Anime
Due to a delay in its release date, One Piece episode 1054 will not follow its normal weekly schedule on Crunchyroll. The reason for this hiatus or break has more to do with the Studio being overly worked.
- If you have not read about the Japanese labor shortage, it wouldn’t do you harm to know about it. As we write, Japan is facing an enormous labor shortage.
- This has naturally piled employees and workers of different fields to overwork and be underpaid for the proportion of their work. And Animators are no exception to this impending laborer shortage epidemic.
Toei Animation has decided to take a short break before resuming the lengthy Wano Country arc with the next episode.
The episode, titled “Death to Your Partner! Killer’s Deadly Gamble!”, will take a break from the intense Sanji vs. Queen fight and instead focus on Killer and Kid battling against Basil Hawkins. A 30-second preview of the episode has been posted on the official One Piece YouTube page.
TOEI Animation needs a break every now and then
It is also worth mentioning that, unlike other Anime, TOEI Animation has been more or less onto One Piece anime adaptation. And they have been at it without long breaks or hiatuses.
For example, Anime like Attack on Titan have had longer breaks in between the seasonal release. But for a series as massive as One Piece, such hiatuses are not always afforded. Hence why this isn’t the first time TOEI Animation has taken a break from their usual workload.

What has been going on in the One Piece Anime so far?
Fans have been thrilled by the ongoing battle between Sanji and Queen in recent weeks, with the previous episode seeing Sanji’s body undergo an unusual transformation that rendered him resistant to Queen’s attacks.
The scene then shifts to Lucci and Guernica inside the castle, discussing Mononosuke’s dragon form and the ongoing battle.
Lucci updates Guernica on the World Government’s plan to capture the Wano Capital if Kaido is defeated, and they discuss the need to capture Nico Robin. The episode concludes with Kaido’s minions attempting to capture Robin while Brook protects her.
- Despite the delay, the preview for the upcoming episode is already available on One Piece’s official YouTube channel. The next episode will shift its focus to Kid and Killer, with Mononosuke attempting to move Onigashima using Flame Clods, which prove to be weak and quickly vanish. Yamato sets out to save Onigashima and prevent the island from exploding when it falls on the Flower Capital.
