Akaza vs Douma: Exploring who wins based on strength, regeneration, and other abilities in Demon Slayer

1) Physical prowess

Since Akaza doesn’t use any weapons, the first point goes to him without any question. He has incredible physical strength, which was also responsible when he defeated the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku. He has notably shown his physical strength. The punches and kicks delivered by Akaza have created shockwaves in the surface which was notably seen in the anime.

On the other hand, Douma, even though having a stronger grasp on Blood Demon Art, gets his head and jaw dismembered in the Infinity Castle arc by Giyu Tomioka’s downward sword sweep. However, Douma is capable of inflicting immense pain on his opponents via wind gusts. Douma also possesses fast regeneration abilities than Akaza. This was proven during the Final Countdown arc when he was injected with Wisteria flowers 70 times, he was still capable of regeneration. Even Kanao Tsuyuri couldn’t cut his throat for his swift regeneration.

Besides, Akaza was a very strong human being even before he became a Demon. When Muzan found him he was only 11 years old and could knock down adults with just his bare fists and kicks. Muzan was impressed by his physical prowess and thought he was already a Demon even before he turned him into one.

2) Blood Demon Art

Akaza is considered to be an expert in close combat fights. He doesn’t use a weapon and can knock down his enemies with merely his fists. He uses the Technique Destructive Style of Blood Demon Art to strike down his enemies.

Douma is creative with his work on ice and can forge any weapon with the help of ice. He can perform Cryokinesis freezing Shinobu Kocho and Kanao Tsuyuri when they approached him during the Final Countdown arc. Douma also possesses the ability to unleash gusts of icy wind that can keep all the enemies at bay. He also can create ice powders and inject them into human cells leading to their peril.

3) Intelligence

In the coming arcs, it would later be revealed that Douma is a Demon with a shrewd mentality and extremely manipulative powers. In the first episode of the Swordsmith Village arc, it could be seen how Douma was trying to infuriate Akaza and challenge him in a duel. However, it was completely futile as Kokushibo appears on the screen and dismisses them both.

On the other hand, even though Akaza has impeccable physical strength, he is not as shrewd and manipulative as Douma. Douma also runs a cult side-by-side where he feasts on his followers. Since he is influential, he’s very well-versed in talking people up. On the other hand, Akaza is a straightforward person who likes to challenge Douma in a hand to hand combat instead of being trapped in his words.

Conclusion

Despite their differences, Akaza and Douma are equally tough to defeat. Akaza on the other hand comes extremely handy in close combat. While Douma is intelligent and manipulative and comes in handy when the battle is about who has better weapons. Hence, if both of them try to prove their mettle, Douma’s strength is unparalleled against Akaza; which is why he is the Upper Moon 2.
