Ted Lasso Season 3 trailer breakdown + what we know so far

TV’s unlikeliest overly optimistic football manager is back: Ted Lasso returns in a new trailer for the third season of the Apple TV comedy-drama series. The American football manager continues his managerial career with AFC Richmond alongside his assistant coach, Coach Beard, and former star player Roy Kent.

The trailer is filled with some notable plot developments, especially in the case of Nate who seems to have fully crossed to the dark side. Keeley is focused on running her PR company while Rebecca still wants to take down Anthony Head’s Rupert. One thing is for certain: life around AFC Richmond is going to be a rollercoaster ride.

Talking points from the new trailer of Ted Lasso

In the new Ted Lasso trailer, we get a clear picture of where Season 3 is headed. Despite being promoted to the Premier League, AFC Richmond still struggles to be taken seriously. We see Ted, Beard and Roy navigating the team through moments of defeat. Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, and Sam Obisanya are all back for good.

However, the major talking point from the trailer is Nate, who was once Ted Lasso’s sweet and unassuming gaffer. Now, Nate appears to be working at West Ham United in a key managerial role. Like his character arc, Nate’s hair too has taken a complete gray shade in the trailer.

What we know so far about Ted Lasso Season 3

  • Season 3 of Ted Lasso will start streaming on Apple TV+ on March 15, 2023. The season comprises 12 episodes with one released each week.
  • A few weeks ago, Apple had released a teaser for the show’s third season with all the key cast members holding up a board that said “Believe”, which is one of the show’s major ideas.
  • The new season will also focus on other important subplots of the show such as Ted’s recurring panic attacks and how he deals with his broken marriage, as well as the complicated love triangle between Roy, Keeley and Jamie, which just doesn’t seem to end.

The success of Ted Lasso’s first two seasons

Based on a skit from NBC sports, the show has become a phenomenon in a short span of time thanks to the excellent cast and their performances. From Ted Lasso himself, played by the brilliant Jason Sudeikis, to the supporting cast of players, coaches, and staff at AFC Richmond, every character is memorable.

The bond between Ted and Coach Beard is one of the show’s highlights, as is the budding friendship between Ted and Roy Kent. It is no surprise that the show has won numerous awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

In a world where there’s so much negativity and division, Ted Lasso showcases kindness, empathy, and human connection. And for that reason alone, it’s a show that deserves all the success it’s received. Are you looking forward to the new season?
