The upcoming film is essentially a prequel to the iconic 2015 action movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, and is also the fifth movie in the franchise. What is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga about?
The two-and-a-half minute-long trailer does an effective job of setting up the world and time period of the upcoming movie. Furiosa revolves around the character of the same name played by Anya Taylor-Joy as well as Charlize Theron in the 2015 film. The new movie is essentially an origin story for Imperator Furiosa.
Set in the same post-apocalyptic world 45 years after the ‘collapse’, the trailer reveals that Furiosa was separated from her family at a young age. As a result, she devotes the rest of her life to finding her way back home and in the process, she joins the evil Immortan Joe and his War Boys.

Another primary character introduced in the Furiosa trailer is Warlord Dementus played by Chris Hemsworth. The Thor actor practically looks unrecognizable here as he supposedly leads the Biker Horde like an eccentric cultist. The two main characters are expected to go on an unlikely adventure together and might possibly clash in the process.
And of course, the film sets up an exciting face-off between Furiosa, Warlord Dementus and a younger Immortan Joe who looks just as menacing. Overall, the trailer is an excellent glimpse at what awaits in the dry, dystopian world and the future battles which shape the fate of the Citadel.

Apart from Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, the upcoming film also stars Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson and Daniel Webber. Given the timeline, it’s not clear whether Tom Hardy would return as the titular Mad Max or Charlize Theron as the older Imperator.
