Godzilla Minus One reveals first Teaser Trailer | Breakdown + Possible Plot

Godzilla Minus One

It’s Back! Last year, Toho celebrated the famous Godzilla’s birthday with an announcement that they will be making a new film inspired by the King of Monsters. Now, a few months later, the Japan-based filmmaking company gives the fans a glimpse of the movie, which will be called Godzilla Minus One. Almost 70 years since the monster’s inception, Godzilla comes out from beneath the surface of the earth to wreak disaster and catastrophe. Here is the first teaser trailer of Godzilla Minus One as we break down all of the movie’s details and possible plot.

Toho just dropped a teaser trailer for their latest Godzilla movie, Godzilla Minus One

Toho Co. Ltd. released a teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated Godzilla film. Written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki (Stand By Me Doraemon), the producers will bring us back to where the iconic monster started – Japan.

The company that first brought Godzilla to the big screen, Toho, will still be the same people behind the upcoming Godzilla Minus One. It is slated to be released during Godzilla’s 69th birthday, November 3 in Japan. Meanwhile, it will be out in international theaters less than a month later, on December 1, 2023.

Godzilla will wreak havoc in Japan’s lowest point: The Post World War 2 Era

The first Godzilla film, which was Ishiro Honda’s masterpiece, was released on November 3, 1954. It was purely a tale about the effects of war and the negative consequences of technological advancement (i.e. atomic bombs). The titular character has been a popular name for iconic monsters that have graced the big screen. Since its debut in 1954, the franchise has sprung tons of movies, tv shows, cartoons, and spin-offs, both in Japan and in America. The story begins when the U.S. started dropping atomic bombs in Japan during World War 2, which awaken a sleeping monster beneath the ground. In Godzilla Minus One, Toho tackles this once more and aims to bring an absolutely brutal and terrifying tone that will ensure the fans and viewers will remember how freakishly incredible the infamous Kaiju is.

Godzilla, as mentioned, will appear in a postwar era Japan, when the country had lost everything. The whole nation is at its lowest point after the destruction and turmoil following the war. But, Godzilla would make everything even worse, hence the title minus one or negative one (-1). Also, if you can notice on the teaser trailer, it seems that it will be set in Tokyo. The Clock Tower in the country’s capital was highlighted in a snippet in the video. Godzilla Minus One is not yet rated, but looking at the teaser, it surely is extremely horrifying.

Toho’s Godzilla keeps on getting better

Toho’s most recent Godzilla remake is the 2016 movie Shin Godzilla. Released on August 31, 2016, the film was positively received by sci-fi fanatics and Godzilla lovers. Now, Toho brings forth another much-awaited project that significantly brings in a better, bigger, and deadlier kaiju.

Meanwhile, Godzilla and Kong are both set to return in the ‘The New Empire’

Godzilla and Kong are returning to the big screen for a new movie called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. This is part of a series of movies called The MonsterVerse by Legendary and Warner Bros. According to the official synopsis of the movie, the two monsters will team up to fight a big threat that is too scary for them to fight alone.

The New Empire is a sequel to the movie Godzilla vs. Kong from 2021, but it will be a bit different because the monsters will work together instead of fighting each other. The makers revealed the film’s title in a brief but exciting teaser which offered a glimpse of the MonsterVerse.
