One Piece 1051 Recap: Luffy is similar to the previous heroes, namely Oden?

One Piece Episode 1051 gives a fitting clash of fists between the emperor Kaidou and the Fifth Emperor Luffy. With how Luffy was beaten to a pulp and thrown into the bottomless pit of an ocean by Kaidou, things seem to be changing tides.

Is the Bottomless pit an end of Luffy or only a new beginning?

Yamato is elated to see Luffy return

The bottomless pit, as I wrote above, is no small play for a devil fruit user. But after receiving help from the Heart Pirates and their submarine tech, Luffy seems to have risen from the dead.

With exemplary power gain that seems to rival only Goku every time he got beaten and got back up with tenfold power during the glory days of Dragonball Z. (Referring to Namek Saga). These are unnecessarily stretched long sentences I am writing, but it is befitting of how stretched One Piece episodes usually are.

  • The showdown between Luffy and Kaido in One Piece Episode 1051 is a feast for the eyes. Titled “A Legend All Over Again! Luffy’s Fist Roars in the Sky,” the episode kicks off the eagerly anticipated rematch between the two characters.

The blows exchanged between Luffy, Yamato and Kaidou in their battle create powerful shockwaves and sparks throughout Wano.

Yamato reflects on the words written in Oden’s journal about the legendary battles between Roger and Whitebeard, which were said to have split the skies.

Is Luffy determined enough to defeat Kaidou in One Piece Episode 1051?

  • Luffy, who has the power of the Gum-Gum Fruit (he has more hahahaha), previously had the help of Yamato and Momonosuke, but in this episode, he confidently declares that he will take on the leader of the Animal Kingdom Pirates single-handedly.

In the latest installment of One Piece Episode 1051, Luffy declares his unwavering determination to defeat Kaido. He maintains a steadfast belief that as long as he is alive, he has an infinite number of opportunities to achieve victory. Oh typical Luffy (more like Shonen characters.)

The undertaking of Kaidou screams ‘evil’?

Kaido’s wicked intentions include the destruction of the Flower Capital and using Onigashima as a means to create a new version of Onigashima. His ultimate goal is to enslave the people of Wano and force them to work for him.

In Episode 1051 of One Piece, Luffy instructs Momonosuke and Yamato to find a solution to prevent Onigashima from being destroyed, so he can engage in battle without any distractions.

How One Piece Episode 1051 builds up Luffy as a resemblant image of Oden

Luffy vs Kaidou is resemblant of the historic battles
  • Momonosuke and Yamato prepare to depart when Kaido attacks them. Yamato successfully blocks the attack, while Luffy restrains Kaido. However, Momonosuke falls off the edge of Onigashima.

As Yamato jumps after him, he teaches Momonosuke that dragons create clouds to fly. Through this lesson, Momonosuke finally gains the ability to fly.

The Straw Hat pirates and their alliance are thrilled at the news of Luffy’s return to take on Kaido once again. However, King and Queen declare that Kaido will become the next Pirate King and that Luffy’s comeback is meaningless due to his previous defeat.

Concluding

  • Luffy’s closest crewmates, Sanji and Zoro brush off the notion, as they envision a different future. Kawamatsu highlights how Luffy, much like Oden, has a profound impact on those around him and inspires hope.
  • In episode 1051, the Minks regain the upper hand after Luffy and Kaido’s battle clears the clouds obscuring the moon. As a result, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi transform into their Sulong forms and finally defeat Jack and Perosepro.

The coming episodes should see Luffy going brutal against Kaidou, with a new evolution for Luffy well underway.

As it stands, Wano saga is finally nearing its end.
