How & Where to Find Scorpion’s Sting on Hyla II in Bethesda’s Starfield

Objective to Find the Scorpion’s Sting

The objective to locate the Scorpion’s Sting on Hyla II comes after speaking with the major factions back in New Atlantis. Their clues lead you to discover coordinates for the remote planet. Upon landing on Hyla II and reaching the Ancient Ruins, you’ll find an altar with a strange glowing glyph. Interacting with this glyph initiates the Scorpion’s Sting puzzle.

Understanding the Function of the Glyph

The mystical glyph found near the Hyla II altar has four circular protrusions, one on each side. These act as buttons that you can activate to move the overhead beam of light in that corresponding direction. For example, pressing the left side will shift the beam left.

This celestial glyph essentially functions as a D-pad that controls the beam’s movement. You must use this to redirect the light to a specific point.

The Scorpion’s Sting is located at the Ancient Ruins site on Hyla II. Upon reaching the altar there, you will discover the mystical glyph that starts the light puzzle.

  • Objective: Move the Beam to the Sting
    • Your goal is to manipulate the glyph to make the beam shine on the “Sting” area, located on the far left of the Scorpius constellation visualized on the ground. To fully solve this light puzzle, the beam must hit the very last star on the constellation’s left side.
  • The Quickest Solution:
    • If you haven’t interacted with the glyph at all yet, the fastest solution is:
      • LEFT, LEFT, LEFT, DOWN
    • This will swiftly move the beam in the proper pattern to illuminate the Sting.
  • Readjusting the Beam if Needed
    • However, if you’ve already pressed some of the glyph buttons, you may need to keep adjusting the beam’s direction accordingly. Don’t worry – you can take as many tries as needed to realign the light.
    • As a last resort, you can also reload the autosave from when you first landed on Hyla II. This resets the glyph entirely for a fresh start.
  • Confirming the Correct Solution
    • When you successfully point the beam at the Sting area, the light will turn brighter and begin dancing. This confirms you solved the puzzle correctly.
    • Your objectives will then update, directing you to visit the last star of the Scorpius constellation marked on the ground.
