After his controversial comments on Gilas Pilipinas‘ head coach (Chot Reyes), the Filipino YouTuber in the name of Rendon Labador is getting the attention he needs. However, his comments created a huge fire and there is someone who wants to put Labador in his place, and that someone is a retired Filipino professional basketball player and a former member of Gilas Pilipinas, Marc Pingris. Pingris, who had just retired from playing professionally, had just challenged Labador in a one-on-one basketball match. If a Marc Pingris vs Rendon Labador battle pushes through, who do you think would come out on top?
Right after Pingris’ comments, Labador responded in one of his videos that he is willing to take on the challenge. He also added that, if he loses, he would do the following:
- He will never touch a basketball again
- He will never play in the Battle of the YouTubers again
- Lastly, he will delete his YouTube channel

Dubbed the “Pinoy Sakuragi”, Marc Pingris takes pride as a tenacious rebounder and excellent defender despite only standing at 6 feet and 6 inches as a power forward/center. He has played 16 fruitful years in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) and was part of one of the best Gilas Pilipinas squads alongside Jayson Castro, Jimmy Alapag, and many more. Throughout his life and career, Marc kept grinding. In addition to that, due to his tenacity and intensity on the court, he got compared to the popular anime character, Sakuragi (Slamdunk) whom he shared similar traits.

On the other hand, Rendon Labador may have played a lot of basketball but he only got famous due to controversial statements on social media and by playing in a YouTube-organized basketball competition called “Battle of the YouTubers”. Although he is known as a fitness instructor and a gym jock, his basketball skills are just average. If you haven’t seen him play, take a look at one of his matches in the past below.

If you followed his career, he went up against much bigger guys like Junemar Fajardo, Asi Taulava, Danny Ildefonso, and many more. Putting Labador in the same sentence as Pingris is a disrespect to the Pinoy Sakuragi.
With his basketball experience, Marc Pingris could easily humiliate Rendon Labador.
Nonetheless, let’s give props to Rendon for not backing down. Unfortunately for him, this may be the end of his basketball career.
