The Uncanny Counter S2: Is Ju-Seok going to be a major villain in the series?

The Uncanny Counter season 2, Is Ju Seok going to be one of the main villains

Netflix’s original Krama series The Uncanny Counter is back after almost three years since season 1 ended with a bang. The show returns with the main group of Counters (Mun, Ha-na, Mo-tak, Mae, and Jang-Mool) intact while also adding another member to the family. Meanwhile, new faces have also graced our screens who obviously are season 2’s biggest villains. The first two episodes are slowly building up to something big that even the Counters will have a hard time dealing with.

However, a more surprising addition to the battle was revealed in episode 4 when the heroic firefighter Ju-Seok suffers a tragic loss after her wife and unborn child unexpectedly died. With grief and vengeance in his heart, Ju-Seok succumbs to the hands of an evil spirit and later on will be the one to control him. That being shown, will Ju-Seok be another one of The Uncanny Counter season 2’s big bad or is he just a passing evil character? Let’s discuss more here.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

In the second episode of Netflix‘s The Uncanny Counter Season 2, not only we saw the team finally get an additional Counter, Jeok-bong, but our hearts were also broken by the untimely passing of Ju-Seok’s wife, Lee Min-Ji, together with their unborn child. The once optimistic, joyful, and thoughtful Ju-Seok falls into severe depression due to his grief of losing a loved one. Because of this, his emotions get the best of him. In episode 3, we saw Ju-Seok try to avenge his wife by attempting to murder Park Seong-Uk. However, he would be caught by the Mo-tak before he was successful in his plans. With grief, loss, and vengeance in his heart, Ju-Seok attracts an evil spirit who took the form of his deceased wife. With the help of Pil-Gwang and the other evil spirits, Ju-Seok turns to the dark side.

On the other hand, the newest member of the Counters (Jeok-bong) is slowly getting the hang of his job. Moreover, his abilities are already revealed. It’s kind of unique that he can smell an evil spirit even from a mile away, and if utilized correctly, this would be a great opportunity for the Counters in going up against Hwang Pil-Gwang, Gelly, and Wong. There’s more to come in the series and the two groups are going to face off more often very soon. The question is, can the Counters keep up with the big three who grow stronger each day? With immense powers on their hands (taken from the Counters based in China), can the Korean Counters be able to defend the world from the looming danger ahead?

Will Ju-Seok be one of the main villains?

There were already lots of evil spirits in the show but most of them were just passing characters. Season 2 began with the Counters chasing an evil spirit driving a bus filled with kindergartens, but it was just a normal day at the job for our supernatural heroes. But, we could not say the same with Ju-seok’s case. Here’s why we think Ju-Seok could be another main villain in The Uncanny Counter season 2.

  • The character’s backstory was already told, including his family, job, and even history with the infamous realty scammers. From being one of the kindest persons to being overruled by an evil spirit makes a great (or superbad) character development.

  • If you always skip the intro, then you probably should now. Ju-seok is obviously a recurring character in the second season after appearing beside the three evil epirits in the intro. With that, we could speculate he’s either going to be another foe the Counters will deal with on the side or an evil spirit that will join the very people that killed his wife.
  • Ju-Seok still has to know who killed his wife and in turn, become a force that would impact the battle between the Counters and the Evil Spirits. Moreover, Ju-Seok needs to have a proper goodbye to the love of his life.

That being said, Ju-Seok may be a weapon Pil-Gwang may use in the next encounter with the Counters. Or, the former beloved firefighter could be the Counter’s chance at defending humanity.
