James Corden is about to end a significant chapter in his career as his flagship program, ‘The Late Late Show,’ is nearing its final episodes. He announced his departure from the show in April 2022, with his final episode set to air on April 27, 2023. Although he is at the top of his game, James Corden is leaving the show after eight years. The show will not continue with another host, ending its three-decade run. Corden’s departure is mainly driven by his desire to let his children experience life in London after growing up in the United States and ending the show while still on top.
Adele joins James Corden’s Late Late Show for last ever Carpool Karaoke session
In March 2015, James Corden took over from Craig Ferguson as the host of a popular talk show and quickly rose to fame with his Carpool Karaoke series. Although Mariah Carey was his first guest in 2015, it was Adele in 2016 who gave the show its biggest moment on YouTube.
As a part of James Corden’s final episode of The Late Late Show, he will have one last Carpool Karaoke with Adele. The pop superstar surprises him at his home and drives him to work in a fitting finale to both Corden and his talk show. While in the car together, they both sang several songs including Rolling in the Deep, Love is a Game, and Don’t Rain on My Parade from the musical Funny Girl.
Adele’s first Carpool Karaoke appearance gained massive popularity. It has become the most-watched video on the show’s YouTube channel with over 260 million views. This time, Adele turns the tables on Corden, discussing their past Carpools, their friendship, and a song she wrote inspired by a conversation they had.
The popularity of The Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke
When Paul McCartney appeared on the Carpool Karaoke segment of The Late Late Show, James Corden won a Primetime Emmy Award. The segment was also nominated for Outstanding Variety Special.
Since the segment aired, it has become a topic of conversation for many people, which is a rare feat for a segment on a late-night talk show. Other major celebrities on the segment include Justin Bieber, Michelle Obama, Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga.
James Corden has received many accolades for his contributions to the entertainment industry. This includes his appointment as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2015 and hosting the 70th Tony Awards.
