Storyline
- The events of the upcoming game take place 70 years after the destruction of the ring, marking Sauron’s defeat. In LotR: Return to Moria, you will return to the once-abandoned dwarven mine of Moria, as the title suggests.
- Under the leadership of the Dwarf named Gimli, you will look to fight the evils that lurk within the mine and return it to its former glory.
- We should mention that John Rhys-Davies, who was responsible for representing Gimli in the movies, will also be reprising his role in the game.
- You will have your fellow dwarves to accompany you in your journey of extracting precious resources from the mine. Amidst the dark and damp, the drinks and songs will help you to remain cheerful.

- The title is described as a survival-crafting game focusing on exploration, base building, and extraction of resources. You can customize and upgrade your character and his gears/armors as you progress and go further down the mine.
- You are going to deal with health, sleep, and sanity meters and look for a way to maintain them. You will also have to fight off various dangerous creatures that reside amidst the dark domain.
- The areas within the underground of Moria are going to be procedurally generated. This will add variety to the player’s experience.
- The multiplayer co-op feature is one of the main USPs of LotR: Return to Moria. You can form a party of 8 players (on PC) and 4 players (on console) and embark on the adventure together.
- From the overview, a few traits of the game appear similar to another title called Deep Rock Galactic. The resemblance must be noticeable if you are familiar with the title.
LotR: Return to Moria – Release Date and Platforms
Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is releasing on October 24, 2023, for PC (Epic) and PlayStation 5. Its launch on the Xbox Series X/S is planned for a later date sometime in 2024. It is now available for pre-order on the Epic Games store for $39.99.
