Most Viewed K-pop songs | Ranked

In the K-pop world, it’s almost every day that we hear new songs in the industry. Just this month, numerous groups held their comeback shows as they released new tracks for their fans. And we long arrived at the time wherein YouTube views became a friendly battle among K-pop music videos and fierce competition among K-pop fandoms. And in this list, let’s take a look at the most viewed K-pop songs in the industry as of this very time. Are you excited to know what these songs are?

Music videos and streaming have been tied to comebacks and debuts in this recent K-pop generation. Aside from album purchases, streaming services are the most commonly used support for K-pop groups. YouTube, Spotify, Korean music charts, etc., are utilized whenever idols drop their new music. And this leads to many streams and views of their digital albums and music videos.

What are the most viewed K-pop songs in 2023?

YouTube views of K-pop groups and idols have constantly increased over time. Even second-generation idols like 2NE1, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, T-ARA, SUPER JUNIOR, and Apink have their views climbing every day with the help of their fans. At the beginning of third-generation K-pop groups, YouTube became a popular video streaming platform. In the same era, international fans began swooning over these Korean Pop idols and used YouTube to stream their music videos.

I remember the time when the highest quality of those music videos was just 480p or 720p. Now, the video quality and even the sound significantly improved. Clearly, time flies so fast, and this time here are the most viewed K-pop songs. Well, you may probably have the hints on who will be on this list; we’re excited for you to see the first one!

5) BTS – Boy With Luv (featuring Halsey)

Released in 2019, Bangtan Sonyeondan‘s Boy With Luv entered this most viewed K-pop song as the Top 5. The music video featured the American singer-songwriter Halsey, garnered over 1.6 billion views as of this writing. Pretty sure they got people grooving over their lyrics, “Oh my my my, oh my my my. You got me high so fast, 네 전부를 함께하고 싶어.”

With the bright-colored MV, catchy repetitive chorus, matched with BTS dance and visuals, no wonder it reached over 1 billion streams after four years of release. And while the members continue to start and finish their military service, ARMYs would probably stream their songs nonstop until they return. TBH, we were once stuck in the “Oh my my my” phase, and we’re not kidding; too addictive!

4) BTS – Dynamite Official MV

Life is dynamite, says the BTS members. The boy group released another bop for everyone to vibe with the following year. In 2020, the birth of almost everyone’s Last Song Syndrome came to life – BTS dropped their whole English track, Dynamite. This feels like a more chill aesthetic of Boy With Luv, with the pastel colors used and surrounding the music video.

After three years, the three minutes and 43 seconds music video nears 1.7 billion views on YouTube. The MV opens up with the seven-member boy group on the screen, and as they leave the frame one by one, BTS Jimin comes to catch the ARMYs’ attention. Jeon Jungkook first grabs the mic to sing Dynamite’s first lines. Now all we want to do is watch the MV on loop and sing “Cause I, I, I’m in the start tonight” with BTS!

3) BLACKPINK – Kill This Love M/V

With its opening beat drop, you just know that BLACKPINK sets again to deliver the goods. Release in 2019 under the same title album, Kill This Love ranks third in this list of the most viewed K-pop songs as of 2023. BLINKs continuously streams Kill This Love as it recently reached another milestone with 1.8 billion views on the video streaming platform. Once you hear the trumpets, you can’t stop listening to them. Let’s kill this love, BLINKs!

BLACKPINK rap line sets the mood for this MV. Jennie Kim begins with her “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” and Lisa continues with their iconic line, “BLACKPINK in your area!” In this music video, you’ll get captivated by the BLACKPINK members‘ breathtaking visuals with the zoomed-in shots. “Look at me, look at you,” and we can’t help but just stare in awe the whole time.

2) BLACKPINK – DDU-DU-DDU-DU M/V

Running second on this list of most viewed K-pop songs, BLACKPINK secured another spot for them. The four-member girl group’s Square Up album holds the title track, DDU-DU-DDU-DU. This song paved the way for a larger fanbase, locally and globally, for the K-pop sensation. BLINKs have been hit with the DDU-DU-DDU-DU since 2018, and it’s turning five years old this June.

Jennie’s rap in this music video and track showed why she’s holding the main rapper position of the group. Moreover, Rosé and Jisoo kept everyone else hooked with their unique vocals throughout the song. And we shouldn’t forget Lisa and her impressive dance skills and charisma as she projects in the MV. DDU-DU-DDU-DU marks the most streamed BLACKPINK music video on YouTube up to date, with over 2 billion views.

1) PSY – Gangnam Style M/V

*Insert drum roll* To cap off this list of the most viewed K-pop songs list, let’s give a round of applause to PSY’s Gangnam Style. PSY successfully had the globe jamming and dancing to this 2012 hit K-pop song. Whether you were a kid or an adult, people just can’t stop singing “Oppa, Gangnam Style!” What made this song more iconic? Its choreography.

A trained dancer, an aspiring one, or just for fun, pretty sure you can join in the trend. Dance challenges weren’t really in during those years, but dance covers certainly flooded the Internet way back. With its horse-riding-like dance moves and catchy lines on the chorus, you just have to unleash your grooves once you watch the music video, which has garnered over 4.7 billion views. What a nostalgic way to end this list!
