Originally written by ONE and published digitally as a webcomic, the OPM series gained its traction when Murata sensei took an interest in it. Soon after which it also got an Anime and things exploded. How did the two get together and what’s their story?
Explaining Yusuke Murata’s involvement in One Punch Man
Yusuke Murata is often referred to the internet as the Mangaka god. It is due to his amazing artworks that have pulled jaws to drop. Be it his depiction of different monsters in One Punch Man or his erotic and voluptuous female figures adored by the male population in his fan following.
Coupled with ONE and his tremendous storytelling of a rather simple structure – Saitama and his hero journeys. One Punch Man has been nothing short of phenomenal. And this is put together by the works of both ONE and Yusuke Murata.
- It helps to set in that Yusuke Murata only adapted One Punch Man Manga. Originally drawn as a webcomic, One Punch Man was the work of author ONE. Having witnessed ONE’s finesse, Yusuke Murata wanted the honor of having a hand in remaking it.

Does One Punch Man have two creators?
ONE originally published the One Punch Man manga online. Which did not gain much traction right away. But eventually, he continued. And the comic, despite having non-professionally drawn artwork, gathered over a million online views.
The story of how both the creators got together
One of the views includes the growing mangaka in the industry – Yusuke Murata. He was nothing short of drawn into the world of Saitama. And wanted to work on this project if possible.
Things came together when Yusuke Murata visited ONE and they both agreed to work on a digital manga rework of ONE’s original webcomic. This was then taken by Shueisha – a major publishing company. The Manga began publication on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website in June 2012.
What is Zaiyuki Anime going to be about?
Exciting news has now been revealed by the show’s co-creator, Yusuke Murata, regarding a new project separate from his other works. Fans have been nothing short of thrilled to hear this announcement. Murata himself shared this announcement on February 24, 2023 via a tweet.
Murata shared a short preview video of a new anime project that he shall be working on. While the characters were only briefly glimpsed in a visual included in the tweet, some hints were dropped about the upcoming anime series. It will be titled Zaiyuki and will be produced by Village Studio.
ONE is also going up with the release of his new Manga: Versus
- This is all tallied with the original One Punch Man author (and the original webcomic writer) ONE working on his new project: Versus.
Given how ONE is the original writer, and Yusuke Murata is only the prime illustrator – it feels viable that Versus will be closer to One Punch Man. At least in its vibes. Although Murata has worked with ONE so closely thus we may see similar hints in Zaiyuki as well.
ONE and Yusuke Murata’s One Punch Man is renowned as a top manga and anime, whose fame skyrocketed upon the anime’s release.
The One Punch Man creators have other notable works such as Eyeshield 21 and Spider-Verse (Yusuke Murata). Whereas ONE has another one of his works named Mob Psycho 100 being another fan hit Anime.
