Destiny 2 Server Maintenance Today (May 9)

Destiny 2 Server Maintenance Today (May 9) - Featured

With Destiny 2 being one of the most popular online multiplayer first-person shooter games now, Bungie continuously rolls out updates to ensure it delivers the best live service experience to its players. However, Destiny 2 players may have trouble logging in today as Bungie has decided to conduct server maintenance for the game.

Why is Destiny 2 undergoing server maintenance today?

According to the official Twitter account of Bungie Help, the increased error codes prompted them to take the game offline for emergency maintenance. After Hotfix 7.0.5.3 went live across the game, Destiny 2 players reported all kinds of issues to Bungie. These issues include the supposed two-second delay hotfix for swapping shotguns in your inventory being applied to other weapons.

Fortunately, the server maintenance only lasted for an hour. Destiny 2 went offline at 2:40 PM PDT, but players could start logging back in at around 3:30 PM PDT. The only issue at this point is that some important features of the game were still offline, as Bungie works on fixing them.

The last update posted on the official Twitter account for Bungie Help announced that API and other integration features would remain offline overnight. The last time the API and DIM features in Destiny 2 were inaccessible was back in December 2022.

When can you start playing again?

Players can start logging into Destiny 2 and hop into a game with their friends. As mentioned, the emergency server maintenance lasted only an hour, and Destiny 2 was up and running again. The only problem players face now is that they cannot access third-party apps such as DIM. This can affect gameplay performance since players turn to DIM to make it easier to swap items their character has equipped with other items in their vault.

As of writing, Bungie has not clarified when we can expect these features to go back online. However, they promised that DIM and other third-party apps would only remain offline overnight. Hopefully, we won’t run into the same problem Destiny 2 had last season when the API and DIM features were inaccessible for a good amount of time.

Make sure to follow the official Bungie Help Twitter account to remain updated on ongoing maintenance.

What is new in Destiny 2?

Now that Hotfix 7.0.5.3 is live in the game, it aims to fix various bugs and glitches experienced by players across all servers. The most important fix Bungie has included is the Shotgun bug which allowed players to exploit a bug that gave them ridiculously high amounts of damage.

In the new update, there is now a two-second delay when swapping weapons from the inventory screen. They have also worked on an issue reported by players regarding the Enhanced Eaager Edge perk.

The Hotfix has also aimed at improving and fixing the following issues with in-game activities:

Nightfall

  • Reverted the change that removed the third Refraction Core in Heist Battlegrounds.
  • Fixed an issue where previously defeated enemies and Champions are respawning if players wipe in the Lake of Shadows boss room.

Guardian Games

  • Fixed an issue where the normal matchmaking options for Supremacy were missing their descriptions.
  • Fixed an issue where the Heir Apparent quest and catalyst are not progressing via most main Medallion sources.
  • Fixed an issue where the Fly the Flag bounty is taking much longer than intended to complete.
  • Fixed an issue where the Champ Seal was not able to be gilded.
