Niantic has several plans for October 2021, with Halloween-themed events and Pokemon. One part of these plans is the Spotlight Hours, which will take place every Tuesday from 6 PM – 7 PM local time.
Players will be able to catch a specific Pokemon species that are featured in each of them, as well as different bonuses each week. In short, Spotlight Hours will give players a chance to hunt and collect as many shiny Pokemon, stock up on candy to evolve Pokemon and obtain additional XP and stardust.
For the Spotlight Hours in October, Pokemon such as Gastly, Drifloon, and Gothita will be making an appearance.
October 5, 2021- Drifloon
- Drifloon, the Ghost/Flying-type Pokemon, will be featured on the 5th of October. It can be evolved into Drifblim for 50 candies. Drifloon can also be found in shiny form.
- The bonus for this Hour is that players will receive 2x XP for evolving Pokemon in this hour. Players can use this to mass-evolve Pokemon that require only ow candies. Players can also gain a huge amount of XP by combining a Lucky Egg in this Hour, which will give them 4x total XP.
October 12, 2021- Gastly
- Gastly, the Ghost/Poison-type Pokemon will be featured on the 12th of October. It can be evolved into Haunter for 25 candies, and Gengar for 100 candies. Gengar can also be obtained for free if it has been traded. Gastly can be found in shiny form.
- The bonus will be that players will receive 2x the stardust. This can allow players to power up their Pokemon, changing their forms and learning new moves as well. Gengar is a powerful attacker and can be easily obtained by Mega Evolving, so it is recommended to catch as many Gastly to evolve them into the mighty Gengar.
October 19, 2021- Gothita
- Gothita, the pure Psychic-type Pokemon will be featured on the 19th of October. It can be evolved into Gothorita for 25 candies, and Gothitell for 100 candies. However, Gothita is not available in shiny form.
- The bonus will allow players to gain 2x XP for catching Pokemon in this Hour. Players can earn a huge amount of XP by combining incense with a Lucky Egg.
October 26, 2021- Murkrow
- Murkrow, the Dark/Flying-type Pokemon will be featured on the 26th of October. It can be evolved into Honchkrow for 100 candies with the use of a Sinnoh Stone. Sinnoh stones can be obtained from the Duskull Community Day event on the 9th of October. Murkrow can be found in shiny form.
- The bonus will allow players to double their XP for evolving Pokemon during this Hour, similar to Drifloon’s Hour bonus.
- To obtain a Gengar, save up Gastly from the 12th and evolve it into a Haunter for 25 candies. Trading this with a friend can help players evolve it into a Gengar for free. In effect, there will be two evolutions for just 25 candies! In addition, if players combine a Lucky Egg, they can earn 4000 XP for each Gastly and 25 candies.
