Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins has been away from the team for quite some time now. He last played for the Dubs on February 13 against the Washington Wizards where he put up 29 huge points to secure the win. However, he hasn’t set foot on the court since that game. GSW listed him out for personal reasons, but what is really happening with Andrew Wiggins?
Will Andrew Wiggins return this season?
According to the Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, the 28-year-old Wiggins may possibly return this season, at some point. However, there is no timetable for when he is coming back officially. Plus, when asked about any updates on Andrew Wiggins, Kerr said he can’t share anything at the moment and said “they’re giving him space as he deals with something more important than the game”. “If he’s able to come back, that would be great. And if not, then that’s the case and whatever happens we will handle it accordingly”, he added.
Kerr says the hope is that Andrew Wiggins will return at some point this season, but there is still no timeline as Wiggins deals w/ a personal matter.

What could possibly be the reason why Andrew Wiggins is not playing?
The official report of Andrew Wiggin’s absence is because of an “unspecified personal matter”. However, nothing further than that has been shared by Wiggins with his team or with the public. Because of his long absence, people have been asking what’s going on with the former no.1 overall pick. Here are some of the possible reasons why Wiggins is stepping out of the court for some time.
(Note: These are just speculations and opinions from people all over the internet. Thus, do not take this as official information)
Family Matters
It’s been reported that Wiggins’ personal matter refers to a family matter he really needs to attend to. Indeed there are no specifics to this, but if a team’s front office gives you proper time and space to settle things, then it’s gotta be very serious.
Depression
Behind the glitz and glamour of the sport, these rich athletes are still susceptible to mental health problems. After all, NBA players are still humans. His teammate, the legendary Steph Curry, made a statement supporting Wiggins in his off-court battles. “Friend-to-friend, teammate-to-teammate, I am just sending him support,” Curry said during a post-game interview.
"It's not ideal."

A family member may be terminally ill
Hopefully, Andrew Wiggins and everyone in the Wiggins household are safe and healthy. Although, you can’t take away speculating that someone may be extremely sick in their family. Again, hopefully, that is not the case here.
Addiction
Among every possible reason listed here, this one is probably not what someone like Andrew Wiggins would succumb to. He hasn’t had any similar problems in the past and was assumed to be clean since joining the NBA.
The Warriors are desperately in need of Wiggins – Here’s why
The reigning NBA champions do not look like championship contenders as of late. Although they are in the fifth seed, they are fighting to stay in the same spot against the Los Angeles Clippers (6th) and Minnesota Timberwolves (7th).
In 37 games played this season, Andrew Wiggins averages a decent 17.1 points, 2.3 assists, and 5.0 rebounds. The Golden State Warriors are indeed missing a key piece in their roster with the absence of Wiggins. In the 2022 NBA Finals, the All-Star forward became an X-factor in the Warriors’ championship run.
