TikTok: What Does Mogged Means? New Slang Explained

Oh, who doesn’t love TikTok and all the new trends, words, and terms that it creates? But what is the meaning of mogged? As we swiped through our never-ending For You Page on the short video application, we stumbled upon a video with a slideshow of celebrity photos and the word mogged on each, but only placed on certain people. This had us thinking if this is a new trend on TikTok, so we checked the engagement on the platform and dived into what it meant.

A New TikTok Word: Who Was ‘Mogged’ In The Photo?

We traced back to what mog initially meant, and according to Merriam-Webster, it is an intransitive verb that is usually used with off or on. Mog is defined as moving away or departing. Well, the new TikTok slang may somehow be connected to its dictionary meaning — at least, you can see a bit of similarity.

The TikTok trend is most frequently done using a group photo. So far, the most we have seen are celebrities with other stars, while some have gotten a picture of famous personalities with their fans. This mogged TikTok thing is slightly subjective, as it compares one’s visuals to the others in a photo. So, if a supermodel takes a photo with less good-looking people, they are mogged. In simpler terms, it could be being outvisualized or looking less attractive than the other person

TikTok users in the above clip answered the curious question of the user about what mogged means, and thankfully, they explained it to them very well. One described it using an example, “Ever looked at a pic of a group of people (or even just 2), and your eyes divert to the most attractive one and fixate there…that one is the mogger.” If the TikTok term still confuses you, a visual example may be the best way to understand it. You may have a different type from other users who are mogged, but you can check out the clip below.

Other Clips That Have Been Trending On The Platform

Of course, many K-pop fans are expected to join this trend happily. However, it may have started clashes about who’s mogged or not, but it’s inevitable when it comes to trends like this. Check out the video below and the comments about Mun Ka Young and BLACKPINK Jennie Kim’s visuals. But, really, who shines most among them?

Idol and actress Nana has the support of her fans and probably most K-drama fans who have seen her acting. Her visuals are unmatched, and some said no one can mog her. Even the clip of EXO Kai and Percy Hynes White being photographed at an event also joined in the trend.
