“Think Mark!” Well, Mark Grayson a.k.a Invincible has really been doing a lot of thinking lately. The much-awaited season 2 of Invincible has been having every one of us excited for what’s next to come. Season 1 was stellar and was positively received by viewers, making it one of the best comic book-based shows like The Boys. Earlier this year, we were given a teaser video on the possible release date of Invincible: Season 2 (which is late 2023 as told in the video). Then, just recently, fans get another treat with the revelation of the exclusive official poster for season 2 via IGN.
Invincible: Season 2’s poster released by IGN had us feeling more excited than before; Here’s a quick breakdown and things that you might have missed
IGN exclusively revealed the official poster for Invincible Season 2 and fans just can’t get enough of it. In the poster, we can see a total of 28 characters in Invincible (new and returning) that will make the upcoming season even better than the first one. It has been more than two years since Invincible’s debut on Prime Video and a lot of viewers are already wondering what’s taking long for the second season to come out. Well, we’re almost there!
As informed in a teaser video earlier this year, the release date window for Invincible Season 2 will be “late 2023”. This would be a great indicator that we will be getting more of Mark Grayson and the Guardians of the Globe in a few months. Also, the official poster for Invincible S2 came out prior to the San Diego Comic-Con 2023, in which Robert Kirtman (creator of Invincible comics) is still on the panel list. This means we will be most definitely getting more updates during SDCC 2023.
Surprisingly, the poster does not include a fan-favorite character – Omni-Man
There’s a total of 28 returning characters as seen in the poster, but there’s no sign of Omni-Man. Just a quick recap, Omni-Man (Nolan Grayson), left his son for dead, Invincible (Mark Grayson) at the end of season 1. His plan to make Earth a Viltrumite empire was a failed attempt after he flew to the sky, never to be seen again.
It’s hard to imagine another season of Invincible without Omni-Man, knowing that Viltrumites cannot leave their post. We have a lot of questions left unanswered, and hopefully, we solve some of them in season 2.
Immortal is indeed immortal
After dying at the hands of Omni-Man (twice), it seems that Immortal is still coming back for another superhero stint in season 2. Despite that, Immortal is arguably one of the strongest characters in season 1.
Aside from Immortal, two other supposedly deceased characters are back from the dead. Doc Seismic was revealed to be alive at the season 1 finale, but Donald Ferguson? Didn’t he just die after being killed by Omni-Man? Well, spoiler alert, Donald isn’t exactly human. That being said, we’re gonna know more about him in season 2.
Is that the parasitic alien from Marks I’m seeing?
Another threat that the Guardians of the Globe must face is the coming of the parasitic aliens known as the Sequids. The poster hints about it coming to Earth and will probably be one of the biggest problems Earth’s mightiest heroes will have to eradicate.
An exciting list of new characters including the possible main villain of season 2 … Angstrom Levy!
Bulletproof, Shapesmith, and King Lizard are just the few characters we can spot on the new poster. Although we are very excited about a new arc involving these fantastic superheroes, there is a much bigger name everyone has been hoping to see.
You might have noticed on the poster that there are three black guys who seemed to look alike. If yes, then you are seeing Invincible’s archnemesis, Angstrom Levy. Those who have read the comics knew who Angstrom Levy was. The maniacal genius who wanted to travel the multiverse ended up destroying his face. With his appearance in season 2, there’s going to be a lot of battle between him and Invincible, so we’re not going to spoil you with this one.
