Who Will Dispatch Reveal As The New Year's Couple? Fans React

Dispatch is coming at the end of the year for the 2024 New Year’s Couple, and fans always have mixed feelings about it. The outlet has been known to follow Korean celebrities in their work and, at times, private lives to get some scoop and reveal new couples at the end of the year. Some Korean entertainment outlets reported that there is already a circulating hint on who might be the New Year’s Couple of Dispatch for this upcoming 2024. Here’s everything we know so far about it and how fans reacted.

2024 Dispatch New Year’s Couple

Dispatch has been surprising the industry and legion of fans for a few consecutive years with their annual New Year’s Couple. For the past three years, known names have been revealed as the new couple, either from the acting industry or the K-pop world. From 2021 to 2023, here are the names that Dispatch dropped on December 31, just in case you wish to know or missed out on these past few years.

  • 2021: From reel-to-real, Crash Landing On You stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin
  • 2022: A surprising pair, T-ARA’s Hyo Min and Soccer Star Hwang Ui Jo
  • 2023: A friends-to-lovers trope in real life, IU and Lee Jong Suk

Dispatch exposing new couples is not new; however, it is still frustrating and saddening that these people’s privacy is compromised. Instead of letting these pairs announce their relationship when they are ready, the tabloid spoils it for them. In their line of work, it’s terrifying how the fans and supporters would accept their relationship, yet Dispatch does not seem to mind.

Some more notable couples that the tabloid released were Rain and Kim Tae Hee in 2014, SNSD YooNa and Lee Seung Gi in 2014, and BLACKPINK Jennie and EXO Kai in 2019. This week, a hint circulated about the possible Dispatch New Year’s Couple — a top 4th generation female idol and a 2nd generation male idol.

This quickly spread like wildfire in the K-pop world, as it seemed off to be imagining how a 4th-gen star is with a 2nd-gen idol. If we come to think of it, most, if not all, second-generation idols are probably in their late 20s to early 30s. Meanwhile, the age range for fourth-generation idols is around the age of 15 up to early 20s.

K-pop Fans React To The Upcoming Revelation

Many fans did forget about the Dispatch reveal, and the recent spread of information had them remembering about it. People are now on the loose, trying to find all the hints they can to find out who the Dispatch’s New Year’s Couple would be.

Of course, it did not sit right with others. The age difference does not seem to be OK with K-pop fans. The fourth-generation girl group that could be the oldest 4th-generation idols we could think of that made it big is (G)I-DLE. Miyeon and Minnie are 1997 liners, Soyeon is a 1998 liner, and Yuqi and Shuhua were born in 1999 and 2000, respectively. If VIVIZ would be included in the 4th generation, Eunha is also a 1997 liner, while SinB and Umji are 1998.

  • More hints were revealed, as it was reported that the male was a popular idol way back and is currently an actor, while the female idol is from NewJeans, IVE, aespa, or LE SSERAFIM. Among all the girl groups, the only ’90s liner would be Sakura (1998), other members are around 2000 to 2007 already.

Some played detectives as they filtered the possible 2nd gen male idols, while others wondered which girl group member idol it would be. Jokes will never leave the stan Twitter when it comes to these rumors.

Despite many fans being mad about how Dispatch works, it’s pretty impossible for them to stop this annual reveal. Those who are excited should wait for the official announcement and hope the couple are both in the right age and mind to decide about their relationship.
