Why hasn’t Sunmi faced any dating scandals?
In her recent radio appearance on KBS Cool FM’s ‘Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show,’ she openly talked about her idol career without any dating scandals. DJ Park Myung Soo asked Sunmi if there was any reason she had no scandals in 15 years of being in the industry. The STRANGER singer answered, “For my age, I don’t have much dating experience, and I’m the type that is very cautious when approaching people. Maybe that’s why.”
- From a fan perspective, Sunmi seems to be a very warm person, primarily when she interacts with her hoobaes or younger K-pop idols. But it is easy to notice this underlying shyness when she meets new people in the industry.

Way back in 2019, in a guest appearance on MBC’s ‘Radio Star,’ she was asked about her firm rejections of the love aspect, specifically about receiving a lot of calls from interested personalities. Sunmi honestly agreed and proceeded to say that, in those cases, she had changed her phone number.
Moreover, some even message her on Instagram regularly, which she then blocked, or if they tried to call, she’d change her number again. The idol stated that she doesn’t date quickly and tends to have very long-term relationships. One of the hosts, Ahn Young Mi, joked that it would be hard for her to find love, and she agreed.
