Kingdom Hearts, the long-running series of action RPGs, is approaching 20 years of existence. Square Enix has wasted no time in celebrating the feat. They have announced the 20th Anniversary celebration event of Kingdom Hearts with a trailer showcasing what the celebrations will entail.
Kingdom Hearts came into existence in 2002, released initially on the PS 2. While the fans got to experience Kingdom Hearts 2 quite early on in 2005, they had to wait for 14 years for the new installation.
Kingdom Hearts 3 was released recently in 2019. Despite this, the Final Fantasy x Disney mashup game series has been able to retain its fan base.
20th Anniversary Event
While the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event is announced in the trailer with some iconography, no further information has been provided by Square Enix. The video states that โKingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Events, All Detailsโ. However, some other information has been provided in relation to the game.
While the exact date of the event is unknown, it might take place on the 28th of March in 2022, coinciding with the release of the first game in 2002 on the same date in Japan.
- Cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5, 2.8, and 3 are going to be making an appearance on the Nintendo Switch platform soon; referred to as the Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud collection. This was already announced in the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- A theatre mode for Kingdom Hearts Union x Cross will be available in offline mode for mobile versions of the game
- The final chapter of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road is going to be coming out soon
While the celebration is in itself very exciting, fans will be expecting to hear news about Kingdom Hearts 4. We already heard of the 4th installation as part of a GeForce Now data-mine leak, but it might be too soon as well to talk about a new installation, as the 3rd installation was only released in 2019.
