Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok’s contracts with Cube Entertainment have now expired, and the five have reportedly decided not to renew their deals with the agency. As this results in the five members’ departure from their K-pop band Pentagon, will the group disband?
Why did Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok Leave Pentagon?
Cube Entertainment has released an official statement to address the issues surrounding Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok’s departure from the group. The agency cleared that their exit had something to do with the expiration of their contracts, and they were parting ways amicably.
Cube thanked the five for being part of Pentagon for the last seven years. Despite their exit, it still wished them “nothing but happiness” in their coming endeavors.
The company also revealed that they talked seriously with the singers about their exclusive contracts as the expiration drew near. And after careful deliberation, it was decided that they wouldn’t renew their deals.
“We kindly ask for your warm encouragement and support for PENTAGON’s Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok as they embark on a new chapter,” Cube said, as translated by Soompi. It also thanked Universe, Pentagon’s fandom, for their love and support.
Will Pentagon Disband?
With Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok’s departure, Pentagon has only four members: Hui, Jinho, Hongseok, and Shinwon. That said, fans can’t help but think that the group may soon disband now that most of its members have left.
So far, Cube has remained mum about the future of the band’s group activities. However, Yeo One, Kino, and Hongseok have assured fans that they will stay together, shooting down the disbanding rumors.
On his Instagram account, Yeo One shared a handwritten note, ensuring he would always be a member of Pentagon and stand alongside their fans. Kino and Hongseok, alternatively, shared photos with their fellow group members on their respective Instagram Stories, with captions, “Pentagon never dies” and “I was always there and I’ll always be there.”
Pentagon started as a 10-member group until E-dawn left in 2018. For the past seven years, they have made a name for themselves with the hit songs Shine, Feelin’ Like, Naughty Boy, Gorilla, and more. Sadly, the exit comes amid their seventh anniversary this month.
Is it Possible for Pentagon to Continue?
Fans are quite skeptical if Pentagon can continue and won’t be disbanded even if five members have left Cube and may probably be signed on different agencies. Sure, the band started as trainees from the same company, but if the members decided to go, they had the freedom to do so. This practice has been happening in K-pop and isn’t new.
Girls’ Generation, APINK, GOT7, and MAMAMOO, to name a few, have members that are signed to different companies. And despite coming from other agencies, they still manage to fulfill their duties and do group activities as part of the group. That said, fans don’t have to worry about Pentagon’s future. They can trust Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok’s words when they say they will stay.
