The Joker gets pregnant in DC Comics’ Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing

  • Matthew Rosenberg created the story and he teamed up with Carmine Di Giandomenico to deliver this mindblowing issue of Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing. Hinting at what’s to come, the latest issue is called “Knocked Upside Down!”
  • To give some context, The Joker has already tried time and again to sweep Zatanna off of her feet. They come to a standstill this time when she ruins his plans of stealing Gotham’s water supply, and this is when things get interesting. At one point, The Joker tries to persuade Zatanna into starting a family with him. Unfortunately, this backfires as Zatanna is not pleased with his attempts to woo her.

  • Zatanna then casts one of her backward spells on The Joker: “On eno esle lliw reve evah ruoy ybab!” but if we reverse it, the spell translates to: “No one else will ever have your baby!”

The father of The Joker’s baby is… The Joker himself

After his encounter with Zatanna, the Clown Prince of Crime wakes up the next day feeling bloated. It turns out that Zatanna’s curse took effect overnight and in a panic, The Joker seeks help from another supervillain called Doctor Phosphorous. The doctor confirms that The Joker is nine months pregnant. Unfortunately, despite his expertise in medicine, Doctor Phosphorous is unsure where the baby will come out from.

  • Fast forward to a few panels in the comics later and we see The Joker start vomiting. To solve the mystery behind The Joker giving birth, he actually vomits out the child that was formed in him overnight. At first, it looks like The Joker is just puking out disgusting sludge.
